for those here who still profess belief in god i'd like to know if religion is still an important/necessary part of that belief system.

I don't beleive that someone nessecarily has to go to a church, although I would like to start going to a church again. I don't know if there are many kinds of religions/churches that God does not approve of, I would say religions that are plain cultish like the JW's would be one of them, though.

but, i thought i would start one again.
sunday afternoon is my favorite time to watch movies.
I love "Dirty Dancing", "Enough" (with J Lo), "Fried Green Tomatoes", and "28 Days" with Sandra Bullock is definetely one of my faves.
When I'm lookin for a movie on TV I usually check Lifetime. They always have great movies.
my husband and myself used to be witnesses, but not for quite a long while now.
every last member of both our families are witnesses so i guess we're the proverbial black sheep, but we haven't been disfellowshiped or have me disassociated, just drifted quietly away.. my husbands grandfather, who is ninety-seven now, suffered a stroke a year ago.
he spent several months in hospital.

Wow....that is SO sad. The way people take advantage of elderly people's inability to stand up for themselves...
conning them into signing papers? That's awful. My mom was very very close to her Grandmother and was in her will. Before she passed away, the rest of the family somehow tricked her into changing it. Not getting money or whatever is not what bothered my mom, it was how some of her family pounced on the chance of getting money from her grandma while she was dying.
Oh yah, I'm sure he is just SOOO much better off with strangers that don't go to meetings than with some of his own FAMILY members who happen to not attend meetings.
This is all very sad. I'm sorry you're goin through this.

thinking about the co's i have encountered over the years.....it went something like this:.
) brother sleeparound: took up with a young pioneer sister on a visit to the congregation.
his wife did not approve..
I really really miss the CO and his wife. He is a genuine man that liked to laugh and took pictures of all the people at every congregation on his digital. His wife would come to my Bible studies when they were visiting and sends me letters. I got very attatched to her and miss her lots.

i remember as a jw asking jehovah many time to find my keys so i wouldn't be late for field service or work.
sometimes i had to ask 2 or 3 time but it never failed.
jehovah always made sure i found those keys.
Nah I'm pretty sure they were both brainwashed at that point.

I had a sister tell me one time that when she came into the truth, demons used to steal her car keys from her house in the night so she couldn't go to work or feild service or a meeting in the morning. She said she used to find them in a nearby pasture.
I wondered..what causes someone to think they might find their car keys in a pasture and to go out looking for them there??
