I just had some relatives over who just told me this same line of crap... no JW's dead because they were at the KH. I said "Come on, that the start of an urban legend". I didn't think they even knew how many are dead total. Also, after reading about the Swedish Dubs in field service, I thought "Do they speak the local language well enough to leave a tourist spot to preach?". This whole story is impossible to believe.

What happens when you die??
by mysterio91 init's been over a year now since my dad died.
i feel sad about it a lot because i don't believe i will never see him again.
i realised today that being raised a dub has closed my eyes to different views on death.. what do some of you believe happens after death??

I still don't know what to believe, I just know I miss my grandma so much.
Essie,
I am also sorry for your loss. Your statement describes my feeling exactly. I miss my dad more than anything.
I'm quite at peace with this belief of no existance of any kind after death.
DY
I don't think I can say I'm at peace with it, but that is how I currently feel as well. I think it's a little scary. Fear is probably what makes the afterlife so believable to people. I think if may dad was still alive somewhere, he would do something to make me feel better. If I existed in an afterlife and knew people were having a hard time dealing, I would do something. Maybe that's dumb to think. I don't know.

What do some of you believe happens after death?? It doesn't have to be Bible based. I'm just trying to get a broad range of views.

This dude is as fanatical as the JW's. I feel much better about not being part of organized religion after hearing this weirdo talk.

Celebrites in the Borg
by what_Truth? ini was wondering how many famous actors, musicians, and other public figures either are jw's or became jw's at some point in their life.
eveyone knows about prince{b], and michael jackson, but i've also heard that they snagged up george benson, a former indian prime minister and rapper dres of the group the black sheep.
obviously this will be a short list since the society doesn't do much to encourge any kind of success, especially not the kind that will leave you with millions of adoring fans.

The rapper Bizarre from D12 (Eminem's group) has a line on their album that says "how would you like it, you were a jehovah's witness that always got molested".

Cretans always lie, said the Cretan
by euripides intitus 1:12,13 from the nasb .
one of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, "cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
" this witness is true.

- 1. Epimenides is a Cretan.
- 2. Epimenides states, "All Cretans are liars."
This may be off track from what you were looking for in a response, but I like this statement. It's labeled a paradox only because people will always make an assumption. Proving the statement false does not prove that all Cretans tell the truth. Most people read the statement thinking that the word "liars" is the variable. I think it's more reasonable to conclude the word "all" is the variable.
This principle is what makes religion and bible interpretation so hard to discuss. "The Bible is the word of God". What part of that statement is the variable?

Can someone explain to me the story of the tower of Babel?
by tippysock inin genisis 11:6 jehovah appears to be worried that mankind will be able to do anything they desire.
did jehovah scatter men and use different languages as a controlling measure to make us dependent on him?
what happened to freewill?
-
mysterio91
Here is my question. What difference would it have made to allow this tower to be built?? It would never have "reached the heavens". Man would never know if it was tall enough to endure another flood. So why stop it. Why was this tower such a big deal to God??

Were You Afraid Of The Elders?.Did Ya Love Em?...What Was Your View of Them
by minimus ini've heard of brothers and sisters saying that they have "prayed for the elders because they love them for their hard work and sacrifice".
i've also heard of how some in the congregation were petrified of the elders and of course, there were those that said they were either only men or that they were direct representatives of jehovah god himself.

I always felt they were uneducated men who would never be leaders anywhere but the org. Being elders was the only way life made them feel important. I only had one elder I truley cared about and respected. Still do.
