That reminds me of when I was a kid. Makes me *cringe* thinking about it.
Most friday nights as a family (mum, dad, 2 kids) would drive to KFC and eat it there. Dad would always give prayer first, even though there were other diners around. I used to get so embarrased.

I thought Kent said that we had until the end of the Month before the site was removed?
Why is the site being removed? Because no one can be bothered maintaining it? Cost? Are the JW have legally shutting it down?
If there are current JWs screwing around with people's websites, it sounds like it's time for exJW hackers to get into action. Perhaps hack the main JW website

Anyone Tried Online Dating Sites?
by eljefe inafter reading this thread, i started wondering whether online dating sites work well.
has anyone had any success with dating sites?
if so, which one?

I did a stack of internet dating a year ago. Met about a dozen guys. Most were nice and normal but things didn't work out.
From spending a lot of time doing it, it seems that people on the dating sites fall into 3 categories..
1. Wanting sex only,
2. Geeks and losers who can't find that special someone,
3. Normal people.
That might be a bit harsh to say that, but the 'normal' people are hard to find.
Here is my worst experience....
I met one guy that I saw for a couple of months. I knew he was a sleazy cheating sort but I found out more about him than he wanted me to know. When we met he said he was 30 with an 8yr daughter. In reality he was 42 with a 19 yr son and the 8 yr daughter. He also had multilple ads, one as a 28 yr old who was chatting up 18yr old girls and also chatting up young men for sex. He also had an ad as a 23 yr old lesbian who was chatting up other women. He was arranging times and places to meet men for sex, but not turning up, just like it was all a big game. He was straight but just leading people on. And to top it off he was into orgies and swinging in a *major* way and had also taken unconsented sex videos of me and him and was showing them to his son.
Needless to say when I found all this out I told him to **** off and I haven't seen him since.

Were your parents control freaks?
by Dustin ingrowing up in the jw religion and having a dad who was an elder, i remember how controlling they were.
i find it amazing now just how much of my childhood i missed out on.
i couldn't watch alot of t.v.

Yep, my childhood sounds exactly like yours dustin.
Very strict and it screws you up for life.
My parents are no longer JWs and neither is my brother. They've been out 10 yrs, me 1 yr.
A couple of months back they came down to holiday, so all 4 of us were in my flat together. We let it all out, brought up stacks of the past, what we resented, how it has affected us etc. It was really therapeutic to do, but it wouldn't be the same if your parents were still JWs.
We had a big hate session about the organisation, not being allowed to play sport, do aerobics, having to go witnessing in our school neighborhood as little kids etc.
My parents in hindsight feel really bad about the way we were raised, but what's done is done and you can't think too much on the past. So everyone has forgiven each other and its out of the way, so now we can all get on with normal lives.

I was a real b*tch to guys when I was a JW. I was cool and standoffish, barely gave guys the time of day, a typical elder's daughter I spose.
I think cause I was so inept at socialising I found it easier to be cool and not let people get close in the first place. Plus my father was a dead serious elder and wouldn't have allowed me to get close to any guys in the first place.
Later on, when I was 18 I got engaged to a weak JW. He made the comment 'Don't you think it would be wiser to marry a ministerial servant?'
A lot of JW girls are only interested in guys with a position eg pioneers and MSs

ISOCF is a *big* book
I've read some chapters, probably half in total. It's very well written but it's harder to chew thru the material than in COC.
Even though I don't know the full 'truth', I really do feel spiritually free now and I understand what Christianity really involves now.
The two books are what convinced me fully that the JWs aren't the true religion.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm really pleased you didn't leave on emotion or anything but you thoroughly checked out issues before making your decision. Well done, you're a brave person

Faith Healing
by Van Jay inok. so i am checking out this church (everyone is going to be so sick of me talking about this, but hey what's this site for anyway?).
this church
is a church that is "lead by the spirit".

I've never seen anybody confess sins on any of these faith healing shows nor was anyone having their head greased with oil
interesting you should say that, 2 weeks ago at church the pastor greased my head (and others) with oil as is directed in James and prayed over us. So there are churches that follow the directions.

Is he actually a baptised JW or is it just rumors about him being involved with the JWs?
