feeling "sorry" for our friends/relatives that wouldn't open their hearts to the "truth" and hense seperating ourselves from them and worrying constantly that they wouldn't be in the new system. Lots of unneccessary heartache

Do you struggle to find truth in anything religious these days?
by Samdownunder ini was just interested to see how you feel out there.
ive been thinking a lot about all the lies and wasted time and frustration ive went through for so long now, and i cant help but wonder if anything i ever believed in is real.
obviously the watchtower has lied and conned us all for years now, but who else along the way has changed the bible and who were the men who compiled it, and their motives?

I was just interested to see how you feel out there. Obviously the watchtower has lied and conned us all for years now, but who else along the way has changed the bible and who were the men who compiled it, and their motives? With all these lies from the WT, whom I trusted and believed to be lovers of God, what other greedy men have been motivated to change things to suit themselves and their own selfish desires throughout history. I have such a strong love for the creator of this universe and all of the beauty that exists within it, but I cant help but feel lost and confused about what is really inspired from that creator or only man-made. How do you feel out there, and why do you hold onto/or abandon your faith in God and the bible(or other religious text) after leaving the JW's?

A strange event.......I was watching a corny Michael Jackson video on TV, and I wondered what the lyrics were....so I did a search and was reading the lyrics and then remembered I saw a movie about him a long time ago that said he was a witness as a child, so I researched that. I hadn't thought about the witnesses in awhile as I am a long time on/off studier(but no more(if I can get rid of the overzealous sister that is pursuing me right now)). I found out all these ridiculous facts about MJ and Prince(like he goes door to door in limos!) and Marlon Wayans and thought it was funny and then stumbled onto freeminds.com. Then for the first time in years I was shocked and appalled and amazed at all the stuff I read. All this time Ive been living in guilt for not pursuing study and getting baptised, and Ive believed all this time the reason was because I wasnt good enough for Jehovah. For the last five years my lack of involvment with the "truth" which I thought I didnt deserve has dictated my life, ended reltionships, filled me with guilt, ect. Its all been an amazing revelation and not the scary, bloody, vengeful one that I expected would come and wipe my sinning, immoral, non JW ass out any day now. Then just yesterday I happened to find this place which is awesome, because I had no idea any of you ever existed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Youve been so helpful and supportive, thanks mates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a light at the end of the narrow minded tunnel

When I was 12 and first studying, an elder told me that I would be attacked by demons for my studies. He related a story of a brother who was studying and his bed started shaking and it lifted up off the ground. He then said by calling on the name of Jehovah they couldn't hurt you despite this. What kind of sick fuck says something like that to a kid, plus it isnt a really good way to convert someone. Maybe his inner conscience if he has one was trying to warn me off from the JW's.
Oh and John Lennon is going to be a resurrected JW because in "Imagine" he talks of a brotherhood of man in no heaven and no hell(so of course that brotherhood is th JW's!)-an elder told me that
Funny shit,but I bought it

I need HELP!!!!!!!!!
by Samdownunder incan anyone relate and help with the nagging doubts that it really was the"truth" and we are all doing the wrong thing and being misled.
i have read a lot of information to sway me from the witnesses and to think it is only a man made religion, but still i fear i could be wrong and going against god.
how do you all deal with this feeling that surely most have experienced.

Im wondering......now that you have all left and startedover. What do you think is ahead for you? have you found new religions, become atheists, are you lost? What do you think lies after death now? It must be strange to have had your whole future layed out for you and then have to start from scratch.

How do you push away the guilt you have been made to feel and know you are not a bad person?

My first time here
by Samdownunder inhi i was just wondering, is it really different being in the witness religion as a full- fledged member than when you are studying with them.
are you treated differently or is all this "control" people talk about over exaggerated?

One thing I am having a really hardtime with is certain things that have been impregnated into my mind for so many years, like the end being near and demons being around. I was reading one website that said that a Jehovahs witness and X-JW have a 30% higher chance of being schitzophrenic and paranoid schitzo than the normal person. Sometimes I feel like I may be a statistic because when I first started studying at 12 or 13 the witness told me when I started studying I would be attacked by demons and even related a story of a friend of his who was reading the bible and his bed started shaking and the lights went out, ect. That is some pretty full on stuff to tell a 12 year old. Now I am 22 and constantly am afraid of such things to the point where I am terrified of the dark and constantly fear demons around me. I have only recently been awoken from the lies and wonder if anyone else suffers from these fearful feelings. How can I break this fear from my mind, its all so hard and confusing....Thanks for listening

This is all so fascinating to me. I have been an on and off studier for 9 years, never convinced enough to get baptized, but always too guilty to leave for good. I only found these informative websites like freeminds in the last week and am in SHOCK at all the information Ive found. All this time ive felt so giulty about mylife for never taking the plunge and now well, shit I dont even know what to think anymore but find it so amazing to be able to talk to others out there. PRAISE GOD ive found the light, or at least the beginning. Still need help and advice........
