  as miracle max (billy crystal) said about westly in the movie the princess bride, hes only mostly dead (i love that movie).

  did something happen which made it clear in your mind you were 'never going back' (not to be confused with nvrgnbk)?.

  the last meeting we went to was the memorial in 2006. we only went because we knew we were already pegged for the elders' unwanted attention, so we had to go to keep them off our backs a little longer.

  I'm quitting smoking with the aid of nicotine patches. It's hard to sleep with them, but they give you the most amazing, vivid dreams. The other night, I had this one: (edited, to get it into 100 words [more or less])

  I was at a bar with a man and his wife. His wife got on the floor, grabbed my foot, and began striking herself in the face with it. She screamed, "My teeth! My teeth!" I took her head in my hands and looked in her mouth. When she lifted her tongue, I could see several small bones, including two tiny skulls that appeared to be human skulls. I remember picking one up and looking at it briefly. I dismissed them -- inexplicably -- as chicken bones. (Apparently it was too weird for her to have miniature human bones in her mouth, but perfectly acceptable for her to have chicken bones!) Her teeth were indeed cracked -- broken, in fact -- and the insides of the broken teeth were hollow. I told her she needed to be seen by a dentist immediately, and there was one only a few doors up the street. "He'll see you right now, it's an emergency," I told her.

  i left the witnesses for the because of the "generation" change in the 90's and recently found out about the large amounts of money they have through hypocrital investments in goverment companies.my question is who are the main people who reap the benefits of all the wtbts's fat stacks of cash?

  Is it possible that the Watchtower itself -- as an entity -- is getting the money? No person may specifically benefit in the form of getting rich. There was a topic raised several months ago along this line. It's not necessarily a person with evil intent, but an organization with an emergent quality of evil.

  But if you can find polaroids of a few Bethel lawyers enjoying a "shepherding call" on some sisters in the Bahamas, I won't be overly surprised! ;-)

  The other side of death...

  our earth is approx 4.5 billions years old our galaxy and universe approx 15 billion years old the life span of the universe is approx 1 trillion years and yet if we are lucky we will live 70-80 years not even an eye bat in the river of time...as an atheist i really don't know what is on the other side of death but something deep inside me tells me this is not it...what is beyond it i don't know.

  are we here by chance, design or divine purpose and if so what is that purpose to live for such a short time just to die and transverse into another reality...makes you wonder...makes me wonder...

  Do you think we're an evolutionary mistake? I mean, if natural selection produced a species that can say "Ya know, I think I'll just skip having kids", that's a problem, isn't it? People are aware of their short life spans, and may choose to spend it on themselves instead of reproducing.

  Perhaps spirituality -- with its tendency to promote the idea of life after death -- was an attempt at tipping the scales more in favor of reproduction?

  (All implied intent to be read in proper "mindless natural selection" terms)

  What was to be a quick dash to BP (a convenience store) turned into a full blown shopping trip! Who knew there were so many JWD'ers unprepared for a Sunday evening? *Sigh* I'm disappointed in the lotta ya.
