  What is up with the obesity doctrine?

  i'm a ubm, and the wife went to the assembly.

  she didn't discuss the obesity issue with me, but my mother-in-law is obese.

  so i'm just wondering how that would make her feel?

  If the JW's viewed obesity as a problem, they would stop having breaks at artery clogging doughnut shops.

  (And we know that will never happen, that is where half of their service time is accrued)

  i wonder if anyone else who grew up as a jw can relate with me on this subject.. i grew up hearing stories of 'faithful brothers & sisters' being tortured to a point where they were almost dead.

  all they had to do to be set free was renounce jehovah and their religon.

  the stories i heard of torture were graphic in nature and to this day i can not handle hearing about torture or watch it being portrayed in movies.

  Yes,

  I loved the Malawi story about bricks being tied to testicles. A warm, painful feeling emanates from my genitals thinking about this memory from my youth! The Mexico/Malawi conundrum makes this all the more poignant. What a group of self righteous bastards the Governing Body are. Thank whatever for Ray exposing them all.

  They crack me up. They make the JW's seem somewhat mainstream. I have been following their predictions for about 3 years now. I think that there would have been at least 100 dirty bombs dropped on the UN by now if they were right. At least they have figured one thing out. If you plan on it happening a couple of times a month for years, eventually you are going to be right!

  What a cluster F that group is!

  I will keep my shades handy just in case thay are correct. Or not, as I really don't care.

  Will Remarrying Lead to DFing?

  the wtb&ts states in this or that circumstance* the offended jw may separate or divorce but never remarry.

  neither can the discarded mate remarry.. what could the local congregation do if they learned that either one of the above (faded, ex, whatever) remarries?.

  *one's physical or spiritual life (usually that of the wife) is endangered; one (always the husband) refuses to provide for one's family, .... thanks,.

  Trust me,

  They will disfellowship if you remarry. But if you succumb to weakness, they will cut you some slack. It is just that marriage is premeditated, and they view that as a willful act. But if you do the nasty without being married, you are okay.

  Makes absolutely no sense, except to a JW committee, and to the crusty old codgers in Brooklyn.
