  Some of the answers may be in the article itself. With the help of France Help may include payment for Witnesses doing the work.

Relief supplies, as well as medical treatment for cholera, dysentery and malaria, were shared with Witnesses and non-Witnesses alike," Mr. Samabona says.

  The authorities needed a group that had a reputation for being neutral, and basically non=corrupt. So many relief efforts misdirect relief to one parisan group and hold back from those who really need the relief. It seems from the article you posted that an organization was formed separately, from the WT and is receiving wages from France and other nations. It is something like the deal of stadium maintenance in California. Maybe we can check with French Govt agencies to see exactly what the deal is.? I commend the arrangement if it is really getting the relief out. But if the JWs are getting paid for it, I would like to know. I would not like to see any trucks with WT logo on it, getting bragging rights.

  Toronto Branch Sizing Down!

  the toronto branch is downsizing by 80 people, some of them paralegals.

  this is, according to my source, definite fact.

  they are being sent home.. i have heard that this is an across the board downsizing to take place at all branches around the world, and i've heard of branches other places which is sizing down as well.. maybe others have heard of a downsizing their own land?

  I heard this too, Kent. Someone asked me privately, because I live in Canada whether I knew anything about it. I heard it was 90, but numbers do tend to grow. Can anyone figure out if this could be for financial reasons, or what? Do they have to turn in their badge, the dwelling together in unity booklet or whatever it is call now-a-days?

  "Special" meeting in October?

  question.

  my mother told my husband that there is to be a 'special meeting' in october at the local sports arena (same place as dc's are held here) and that "only publishers are allowed to attend" that they will get "special cards" for admission from their local congregation and have to hand them in to get into the building.

  i have no idea if this has anything to do with the "annual meeting" they always have (isn't that generally in october?

  Can I take a flying guess too? Back around 1970 while sitting in the backyard with a group of pre-assembly workers before a Montreal district convention, the district servant was titillating us with goodies, saying that new light was going to be announced , something to do with the servants. I piped up, they are going to rotate the servants in the congregations. His faced dropped, and I knew I had hit paydirt. No one had told me, I had been studying the question of deadbeat congregation servants, that had everlasting tenure in their positions but were not gung ho enough for them to be dismissed. What better way to move them around, and based on the scriptures too.

  So what about the October meeting. There will be no more official governing body. Our friend, David Splane gave us a hint at the Bethel table, there will be those taking the lead. No one will know who they are. After all, in the days of Jesus, no one of the authorities really knew which one of this group from Galilee was really the head honcho. They all talked the same, dressed the same and all could go out and do miracles etc. That’s why the authorities needed Judas Iscariot. To identify the head one, so they could decapitate the head and thus, they thought, destroy the group. They did the same with John the Baptist, they went for the head .

  With all the discussion on this board, where even JW supporters say that pedophilia statistics of the JWs is no worse than that in the rest of the world, also all the cases of fornication, alcohol abuse, drugs, thievery, lies etc. Why go door to door? They need to knock on doors of their own, first.

  Dear wasasister,

  You certainly are not wasasister but isasister, a true sister that takes courage to write a most excellent letter.

  I understand your reason for not signing, but I would like to toss in a suggestion maybe it would work or maybe not. Do you know of anyone who would vouch for you, authenticate the letter so to speak. It would be like a recognized reporter not revealing his sources. It could say something, my name is so and so and I herein attest that this letter is true etc. etc. It would be like silent lambs authenticating Barbara Anderson's letter on this board. I would be glad to do it, but I believe it would certainly then be filed in basket thirteen.
