Dang Amazing! When did you get a mean streak?!
I like it tho, I like it a lot!
Tera, you should listen to Amazing. Think of it as giving your family a spanking. Only momentary pain, but it could teach them a valuable lesson.
Mike.
oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.
i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.
so i boringly reply,'oh yeah'..not really listening.

i used to spend quite a bit of time during my teenage years in what was affectionately called "the green room".
the elders couldn't wait to take out a pen and paper and take pages upon pages of notes while i spoke and my poor parents sat and squirmed.
i wasn't a bad kid, it was always about stupid things, like sister-so-and-so said i wore a short skirt to school, etc.
Hi Zenpunk. It's doubtful you'll ever gain access to those notes or any other part of the file kept on you by the elders and the organization. Obviously, if you ask for your file they'll say no or maybe something like "what file?" The only legal way to get it would be to take them to court and any fool could tell you that it would be destroyed as soon as the court papers are served.
I'd love to get my hands on my file as well, even posted a question about it like you have.
Honestly, it's better to let it go. Let them keep the file and have their little illusion of power.

it was about my car getting broken into and losing some car stereo equipment.. anyways!.
I doubt the cops will charge me with anything.
As far as getting sued, actually I doubt it. but if it did happen what would they get if they managed to win?

Anyways!
After almost a week of driving with no music, I couldn't take anymore. No OEM system will ever suffice for me, even for listening to AM talk radio. So I didn't bother trying to re-wire the cd player to the speakers still remaining in the car even though they are aftermarket speakers. I just drove without and listened to the police scanner that didn't get stolen. Which can be fun, but I was missing listening to Lex and Terry in the mornings on the way to work. Now that is a problem!
I did consider building a box and putting in a couple of good JBL 6x9's I've got, with an old but decent amplifier I also have. Then this evening I started thinking about it. I finally said "F that and F the thieves!" I deserve better than surrender. And an OEM system or 6x9's to me means surrender.
So I went shopping.
That Circuit City salesman must love me tonight. I dropped over five hundred bucks for some new gear. The amp is a Bazooka brand, not exactly top-of-the-line but I think it will do just fine and I can always upgrade. The speakers are 12" Infinity subwoofers and the box they go in is way heavy.
I know what you're thinking, that it's just gonna get stolen. Sure it could happen. But not without a lot of work this time, and not without a lot of pain and blood. See, the stuff isn't going in the car immediately. I still have to prepare. Once it does go in, it will be there to stay. Matter of fact, I won't even be able to reach the spare tire which is located under the subwoofer box. The box, subs, and amp will be put in and securely bolted in place. The spaces around the box will be filled with razor wire, which I will be buying tomorrow hopefully.
That will do for now.
Next step will be to add a metal screen around the box itself, one wired to the car battery in such a way as to deliver a powerful electrical jolt like a stun-gun or taser to anyone who tries to pick it up. I'll just have to do it carefully so the razor wire doesn't come in contact with the electified mesh. Beyond that, I'm considering adding devices that would [explosively] release pepper spray or CS gas when the car is broken into and I really want to find some kind of tracking device I can install in the equipment.
Of course there's always a car alarm. But I want one that will remotely trigger an alarm in my apartment so I can get outside and fire a shot or several at the fleeing suspects.
I'm not exaggerating the prospect of car break-ins here. In Macon, property theft is just outrageous. The cops (while they do try so hard and I respect that) can only do so much and are not that much of a deterrent. The real deterrent is for the bad guys to know that someone will fight back on their level. That level is fighting more dirty than they do. I have no problems with that at all. When that happens they do leave you alone.
Ok, I've ranted long enough. Y'all have a good weekend.
And lock your cars!
Mike.
or do other chores?
any here archaic and expect the woman to do all of the work?
my mother taught me that women don't need our help, but we should give it anyway, to show our love.
I'm single and live alone, so I do all of it myself.
I do have a dishwasher, but just as often if not more I wash dishes in the sink. I don't mind housework, I like a clean home.
I also enjoy cooking. Real food. Nothing microwaved, I don't even own one of those infernal things.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21) : All you do is brood and lead a life of havoc. You like to choose friends with low self-esteem that have more problems than you do. It makes you feel powerful. So do your "strings attached" favors. You're too secretive and demanding...and it pisses everyone off!
OUCH!
Thanks a lot, one more thing to brood about!
Mike.
a bill by sen. william ``pete'' knight would require that all california schoolchildren say the pledge of allegiance daily.
under sb 1248, public school teachers would have to lead students in saying the pledge at the beginning of each school day.
this is very interesting, although i seriously doubt it would pass.
I've got nothing against the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. I remember that by the time I reached middle school, it was no longer something we did in the mornings. It would be a good thing to bring it back, but not a good idea to make it mandatory.
i've spent a lot of time on allmusic.com and it amazes me how much nirvana is mentioned when the reviewers rate other albums.
so its a no brainer that nirvana's work should probably have a place in every rock collection, but what are some other albums every rock fan should listen to if not own.
.
Excellent choice, GSX1138! The Dead Milkmen, I love that band.
My personal entries to the list:
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Molly Hatchet
Charlie Daniels
Credence Clearwater Revival - in this case, skip the compilations and collect the actual albums. Matter of fact, do a little searching and you'll find two other albums they made in their pre-CCR days under the names Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets and The Golliwogs. Well worth listening to.
Joan Jett 'The Hit List'. She does a cover of Nazareth's 'Love Hurts' that's awesome. For that matter, any cover Joan Jett does rocks!
AC/DC with Bon Scott. Some of their stuff after Bon died was ok, but the Bon era of AC/DC was the best.
Judas Priest. 'Screaming for Vengeance', 'Defenders of the Faith', and 'Turbo'.
Manowar 'Fighting the World', 'Kings of Metal', and 'Louder than Hell'.
All the 80's rockers. Yes, MikeMusto, including Poison. On 'Crack a Smile' they did a really rockin' cover of 'Cover of the Rolling Stone'.
KISS.
Shannon Curfman. For those of you who haven't heard her, go to www.shannoncurfman.com She is only like 15 or so, but has this incredible voice. To hell with Britney Spears, this girl has some real talent!
Ray Stevens
Weird Al. There's this parody of 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' that's credited to him that's just hilarious.
David Allan Coe The commercial stuff is fine, but again do some searching and you'll find his 'Underground Album' and 'Nothing Sacred'. Both never officially released, but bootlegs abound.
Any Dr. Demento compilation.
'Heavy Metal - The Movie' Soundtrack
'Twin Peaks' Soundtrack
Mike.
i couldn't think of a more descriptive yet short title.. the thread about kh cleaning stories got me thinking about my old kh and the story behind it.
thought i'd share it and hopefully some of you will add your own.. there's a couple of folks here who may know a little about my old hall of their own and may hopefully correct any misinformation i may provide or even add their own stories.
like most others, that old hall had actual apostates (ingram i think their name was) and its own (what hall doesn't, right?
you call one town "hick" and you stand there with a mullet and a handgun....
i laugh
Yes as a matter of fact I do call that town "hick".
And would you please get over the hair already! Dude! I'm not cutting it! It isn't what's on top, it's what's underneath so deal with it!
Mike.
Now back to the thread....
