my great-uncle olin reagan passed away last month.

he was never babtized but his wife dot (dorothy) was and he did attend the occasional meeting and was always friendly towards the witnesses.
My Great-Uncle Olin Reagan passed away last month. Actually he's my Great-Uncle on my step-dad's side of the family, but the I consider the Reagans my family nonetheless. He was never babtized but his wife Dot (Dorothy) was and he did attend the occasional meeting and was always friendly towards the witnesses. The Reagan family from Georgia traces their roots back to the same O'Reagans that President Reagan does.
Olin is survived by his uncle, Otis Oliver Reagan, a longtime Witness. Some of you who lived in the Middle Georgia area in the past probably know or know of Oliver if you were a dub at the time. He's in his 90's now and has Alzheimer's but the last time I talked to my mom about him she said he's still good old Uncle Oliver.
Mike.
i have really enjoyed getting to know so many of you.
don't consider this a permanent goodbye, as i'll most likely stop back every now and again to see how you are faring.
and to keep you updated with me and the family deal.. the reality is, this board was great for me while i was pregnant, i was so sick.
I'll miss you too, Lisa. Please do stop by sometimes.
Give the baby a hug, baby!
Mike.
hallo, sorry to disturb you.
i would like to ask you something about english language.
if i write << all night i make my bed swim >>.
I want to know if a English reader understand that <<the bed is swimming>> or if the <<bed is swam>>
Perspi, it would be the bed is swimming.
So what does the bed is swimming mean anyway? Does it mean you have a waterbed?

mailing campaign fallout.
recently, kingdom halls of jehovahs witnesses were the largest group of intended recipients of an international mailing campaign, spanning all fifty states of the united states and including the countries of canada and england.. the results in the us have been interesting, and could have far-reaching effects on our legal system and on the preaching practices of jehovahs witnesses.. over a hundred years ago, a group of evangelical apocryphical persons calling themselves "bible students" began a campaign to sell bible-based literature at homes throughout the united states.
from time to time, their effeorts faced legal challenges, some were won and some were lost, but in general the door-to-door campaigns have continued unabated, with varying degrees of success.
Thanks for that info, DB.
In late 1979, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society issued in its members-only bulletin "Our Kingdom Ministry" (KM) that: " At times mail addressed to the Kingdom Hall is returned to the Society or to others who write. It is marked as being undeliverable for various reasons, usually because there is no mailbox for receiving mail. We recommend that at the next elders meeting the presiding overseer discuss with the body of elders how this can be remedied. If there is a problem at the local post office, this can be discussed with an official at the post office in an effort to clear it up."
Now how about that! Imperial Command directs local BOE's to provide for mail service to the KH's and 23 years later it hasn't been done. Gee I wonder why?
From personal experience, I can tell you that at least many KH's receive mail through one of the elders. The literature shipments for our hall came to my dad's Post Office box, not some box rented by the local congregation. For those who are participating in this letter writing campaign, it may take some research to find the correct address to send the mail to.

(I think I hear Lee Greenwood singing "Proud to be an American" in the background)
I'm proud to be an American.
I can say what's on my mind, read any book I want to, and watch or listen to any broadcast I want to because the First Ammendment says so.
I can own guns and defend myself, my property, and my family because the Second Ammendment says so.
(by the way, do you think there'd be a First Ammendment without the Second?)
My home belongs to me, not the government, not "the people", me.
I can work hard at the career I choose and keep [at least some of] what I have earned.

so how small does your "pee pee" have to be to stoop to bashing america on a jw support board?.
feeling rather put upon for america's sake, living in new york city, feeling like bashing in the brains of anyone who says that americans going about their daily routines "brought this (9/11) upon themselves".
i will always remember the day i looked out my window at work and saw over 3,000 people dying..
For Those Who Bash America, Shut the Hell Up!
If you are so miserable here, then please by all means find a country more to your liking and move there as soon as possible.

o.k, now that i have your attention, things are getting very ugly in here, uglier than usual.
it is really starting to bum some people out, including me.
so with that in mind, i thought it would be nice to start a thread about something that feels good.
Had a few good moments at work before.
My favorite happened just a few months ago. I had recently done a lot of brake work on this lady's car. Within a day or two she was back with this mysterious noise. The kind of noise tech's dread: an intermittent noise. It doesn't happen all the time or even on a regular basis. The noise in question was a thump from the rear sometimes when taking off, turning, and stopping. So I test-drove it and fortunately I heard the noise or what I thought was the noise. Returned to the shop and did some investigating. Then I went into the waiting room and sat down to talk about it with her. Verified what I had heard and the approximate position of the sound. Then I handed her the golf ball that had been rolling around in her trunk. The look on her face was priceless.

does anyone remember how the society joined the "disco sucks" movement of the late 70's?
i remember reading in the mags about how disco was created by homos and that it has an "immoral beat" (whatever that means!
) it was also mentioned not to go see "saturday night fever" because someone gets a blowjob in the movie.. in our congregation, we had a special meeting about disco because people would request disco songs at our once-a-month jw skating party at the local skating rink.
I was born in '71 to a very anti-socializing mom. So I never got in on the skating parties or much of any other dub-youth association for that matter until I hit my teens and by then I wasn't part of any of the cliques so suffice it to say there was practically no parties of any kind at all.
I never did like disco. I'm a rocker through and through. My dad was country all the way so I naturally rebelled and went with the 80's rockers which he hated. Or professed to anyway. I did manage to bust him a couple of times, walking out into the garage to find he had the radio cranked up on Q106-the local rock station-and Bon Jovi at high volume. He never did explain his way out of that one.
Now I do listen to a little disco. The local top-40 station has a 12-1pm show that plays 70's and 80's songs, many disco. We turn it up at work when that show is on and have a good time listening to the disco songs. Always a little hell given when "YMCA" or "It's Raining Men" comes on. Someone always gets on the intercom to announce "Hey <so and so> they're playing your song!" And yeah, I'll turn up the car radio sometimes when a good (?) disco song comes on.
Mike of the rocker with an open mind class.

we have a bigg artikel in km abot our wuie on how to treat them in diffrent situations, not so much new things, but they confirm this harder treatment on dfd, as we have 1981.. not so happy for this, i think it is a bigg misstake to dont take this occasion to change to some more loving wuie.i can not follow why they do like this perhaps they are draw this to the end of the lione, but who are take the punnish for this, if not the averge jw, who i think dont like this so very much.. so i can not follow who they think, perhaps we have wolfs among us, who hurt ther members.. .
Hello there Happy Man. Put the Watchtower doctrine out of your mind for a moment and think to yourself "how would Jesus treat them?" Remember that he came to Earth and died for them. Also remember his many teachings such as the one of the good samaritan and how he embraced prostitutes and tax collectors and then ask yourself if you could actually stand before God and justify to Him how you could show such hate to a friend or family member just because you were instructed to do so.
