I didn't mean it the way you took it Comf. I didn't mean for the situation to be that way from the first meeting, I meant that that's the kind of relationship I want.

living in dallas, i've found that personals ads usually list an abundance of folks within reasonable traveling distance... i can turn up about 220 who have posted a picture, don't smoke, and live within 25 miles of me.

finshed unpacking my miniature bottle collection and putting it on some shelves today so thought i'd post.. i started collecting miniature liquor bottles a few years ago.
a friend was selling stuff from her deceased grandmother's estate and there was this collection of around a hundred mini bottles.
i bought the bottles and got interested in the hobby.

I started collecting miniature liquor bottles a few years ago. A friend was selling stuff from her deceased grandmother's estate and there was this collection of around a hundred mini bottles. I bought the bottles and got interested in the hobby. Since then, I've bought a few more on eBay. Haven't bought too many. I pick and choose what I want, and I don't base it on the value of the bottle since I don't really know what they're worth. I just buy them for their age and make sure to buy only those that are full and sealed.
Here's a few. And I'll post some pics one day.
Hedges & Butler Vat 250 Blended Scotch Whiskey. Full and sealed, with a wax seal added around the top sometime in the past. Illinois tax stamp dated 1936.
Haig & Haig Scotch. Maryland tax stamp dated 1939. Full and sealed with the old twist-wire top, not a screw-on cap. This is the same style bottle as 'Pinch' scotch, some of you may be familiar with that brand, and this is actually 'Pinch' scotch but just very old from back when it was labeled as "Haig & Haig" instead of "Pinch".
Four Seagrams Crown Royal's full and sealed. The tax stamps are dated 1957, 1962, and 2 1966's.
Quite a few other bottles as well. Two 'Yukon Jack' bottles. Consecutive numbers embossed on the bottles, and consecutive numbers on the Wisconsin tax stamps. Two 'Pride of Baltimore' whiskey bottles, the labels are beautiful. A 'Jack Daniels' with a green label instead of black. Three different Jim Beam bottles, 1 a Jim Beam, the other two 'Beam's Sour Mash'.
And not quite in keeping with the mini-bottle collection but nonetheless very intriguiging is a bottle I picked up a couple of years ago. A turn-of-the-century corked medicine bottle. Original cork in place and (I assume) original contents still in the bottle. No label or embossing. Thick black liquid in the bottle. I've been told it's probably a medicine and likely contains opium or an opiate. No idea what it's worth, or what any of the bottles are worth for that matter. (and no, I'm not going to "sample" it! that's not why I bought it)
Anyone else collect mini-bottles?
Mike.

give me my independance & I'll give you yours; practice monogomy or don't call
COMF, I actually like that one line and that's a girl I'd like to meet.
"Give me my independence and I'll give you yours". Sounds like trust and honesty to me. No possessiveness, jealousy, and insecurity. I could go indepth with that after the last one but I'll spare you the details.
"Practice monogamy...". Monogamy is just what I'm looking for. Couple that statement with the first one and you've got someone who has firmly stated what kind of relationship she wants.
What does it sound like to me? No "playing the field", no dating other people while the two of us are dating. A one-on-one relationship with honesty and loyalty first and foremost.
Who is this girl? I'd like to meet her!

inn sweden it is a crime to use this or to sell it, i now in some other countrys it is not forbidden, so if some one want to give some addvice, thank you.
Happy Man, it is not the drugs that are bad it is the people who abuse them.
Our society would do well to spend more time educating and less time fighting. Teach the benefits of abstinence first and foremost. But also we should teach moderation, safety, and responsibility. Responsibility is a word seldom used in any education these days. The same goes for freedom.
Personally, I use *some* drugs. I do so carefully and responsibly. I don't drive when using them. I don't use them while at work. I don't have kids but if I did, I would not use them while the kids were in my care. I am in favor of the legalization of some drugs and the decriminalization of others. But not yet. Our society just has not embraced the concept of personal responsibility yet, especially those who would benefit from legalization/decriminalization.
I hope that one day society as a whole matures to the point that we can legally enjoy any chemical we want responsibly, but until that happens -- and it won't as long as we have idiots suing over McDonalds coffee that is too hot -- the so-called war on drugs is going to be a fact of life.
Mike, who happens to be enjoying a Lortab right now.
this is my first weekend in my new apartment.
so that gave me the idea to start a fun thread.. how about your apartment stories?
favorite/least favorite apartment you've had or maybe now live in?
Hey Southland and Sunshine! I live in Macon, GA. Where do you live?
The average rent is pretty reasonable in Macon. Even the high-dollar apartments in high-security complexes are probably just around a grand a month. The section of the downtown historic district I live in is populated mostly by college students, so the rent tends to be fairly reasonable.
Prisca, I didn't mean to come across as saying $450 was a problem. The apartment was well worth the price and I could and can definitely afford it. I just decided that I'd rather pay less so I started searching and found this one for $300. Rent is money that goes right out the window and you never see it again.
Now if you really want a shocker, my first apartment back in 93 only ran me $175/month. A good friend of mine has a small apartment in a duplex that she only pays $150/month for.
I take it you're renting (or have rented in the past) in an apartment complex. Here's some advice. Take the time to search out and find private individuals who rent out apartments. It takes some work on your part. You have to interview and screen your landlord, much like apartment complexes screen tenants, but remember that you are the customer. Leasing companies tend to forget that fact, and many times they turn the relationship around and treat you like a subordinate. Private individuals who own a house or two that they've converted into apartments run their businesses differently. The good ones always remember that you are their customer and treat you as such. Ever since that first $175/month apartment (did I mention that for the 3 years I lived there I never locked my doors?) I've always found good landlords and to this day if I were to need a place to stay I could call any one of them and know I'd be taken care of. Just try that with some leasing company.
But hey y'all, I'm getting off the subject. What about your stories? The good, bad, and ugly of apartments. Stinkydrawz laid some good ones on us, so somebody get busy and top them!
When I get my DSL connection transferred over here next week, I'll post some pics. Why don't y'all post some too?
Mike.

Ok, Stinkydrawz. I have nothing that even comes close. Worst I can say about my current and last apartments is that my car got broke into once.
Several years ago I did fire a warning shot at a trespasser, tho.

This is my first weekend in my new apartment. So that gave me the idea to start a fun thread.
How about your apartment stories? Favorite/least favorite apartment you've had or maybe now live in? Favorite/least favorite landlords and neighbors.
I'll start the ball rolling.
I had a very nice place for the last year or so. In the downtown historic district, in a house built in the 1800's. My apartment was a wing built onto the back of the house. Originally it was the house's kitchen and a breezeway, since many houses in those days had the kitchens isolated from the rest of the house as fire protection. The landlord renovated the whole house in the 80's and did a great job. It was well insulated and there were no noise issues with my neighbors in the rest of the house. Central heat and air, ceiling fans, 10-foot ceilings, dishwasher, a huge walk-in closet, and the bedroom was gargantuan.
I really liked it but I was paying $450/month rent. Now if I'm going to shell out that kind of money, I'd rather it be to buy instead of rent. I explained that to my landlord and she fully agreed, even returned my deposit!
Not quite ready to buy a house yet though.
So in my search for a cheaper apartment I totally lucked out. Found one only two blocks south on the same street (College Street for those of you familiar with Macon) for only $300. Now it is smaller but it still has central heat and air and it's plenty enough room for me and my cockatiel. She's happy with it, too. It's a basement apartment, but not all the way underground. My windows are at ground level. It's an old three-story brick house with an accountant's office on the main floor, therefore no noisy neighbors above me. There's another basement apartment next to me but I have yet to hear any noise. And the third floor is also an apartment. Plus, or I should say BONUS, the other two apartments are occupied by very pretty girls! Hopefully I'll meet them soon! The living room has this really neat sort of skylight on the outside wall and the room is laid out perfect for my surround-sound system. The apartment is built around the brick columns of the house's foundation, so my sheetrock walls are punctuated by the brick which really gives the place some character. One of the big columns is in my living room and it's a perfect place to hang this Patrick Nagel painting I got for Xmas a couple of years ago. The heat is gas, but the oven and stove is electric. I really hate that, I prefer to cook on gas. And I'll miss the hell out of the dishwasher in the old place. Oh and no washer/dryer connections so I'm gonna have to make some myself. At least Bellsouth said I can move my ADSL service here which is great because dial-up totally sucks! They'll have it transferred here next week. I'll post a pic of that neato skylight so you can see what I'm talking about.
I don't really have a "least favorite" because I can be comfortable pretty much anywhere as long as it has electricity and indoor plumbing.
I would have to say my favorite is the first apartment I had when I moved to Macon in '97. The house was in a bad area, Macon's Houston Avenue section. But it was on a reasonably peaceful side street. Another old historic house. 12-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and an enormous living room. The living room measured 18' by 18' and was one hell of a place for my surround sound system. Ok, I'll admit it. When I look for an apartment I do take that into consideration.
So what's your story?
Mike.
as the general rule i don't scare easily and i am always looking into the unknown corners.
i like the creepy and spooky.
spiders and snakes dont freak me out either.
Wow! I saved that list to finish reading later. There's a name for just about every fear known to man!
Mine:
First and foremost: Arachnophobia. Inherited from my mom, although she is just a little worse than I am. Just once I tried to lose my fear or at least get more comfortable around those things. When Pat was living with me (whole nuther story, don't get me started) she bought a Mexican Rose Hair Tarantula. I contributed the name: Damien. As in that spooky kid in 'The Omen'. I let Damien crawl on my arm. That was the spookiest feeling in my life. This huge tarantula perched on me, and I'd swear it was staring at me in a malevolent way, walked around, and I could barely feel it.
Others: Slight fear of heights. Fear of failure. Some fear of social situations, and a noticeable fear of crowds when alone. Extreme fear of approaching women, to the point of being almost totally unable to find a girlfriend. Strong fear of being poor.
Yeah, I'm pretty screwed up. But at least I'm not one of Jehovah's Witnesses!
Mike.
preliminary information on alvin hansen
backdrop: for a few years posts have popped up on the alvin hansen lawsuit against the watchtower society, alleging various charges against the watchtower society for stealing funds from their family trust, trumping up false charges to get alvin kidnapped and held for 52 months, false irs tax liens, and interference in his marriage to his wife, jacqueline.
there is even a web site which details this account at: .
Thanks for the hard work Amazing, even though I'm still not clear on just what the hell this is all about. When you replied on my thread about Alvin Hansen you said the same things I have thought about it: convoluted, bizarre, and surreal. Honestly, I am very hesitant to believe what I've read on the links you provided. It sounds like the papers you received don't shed much light either.
In my thread yesterday I asked for the whole story. I think that many would like the same thing.
Who is Alvin Hansen? What is his history with the Witnesses? It sounds like he was/is well-to-do, since the issue seems to revolve primarily around money and a trust. What is ABVA trust? Why is the WTS involved in the first place? Could this be a situation in which money was placed in trust for the WTS in a will and they got greedy? Was it retribution for "apostasy"?
The main question in my mind is why hasn't this story gotten national media attention? Fox News, CNN, and shows like Dateline and 60 Minutes would definitely be all over it. Show me some newspaper articles.
Mike.
several times now i've read articles posted about alvin hansen and some big legal mess involving the wts.
unfortunately, everything i've read has not really told me much of the actual story.
if anyone here can fill me in, i'd like to know.

Honestly, based on what I've read I don't even know whether I should believe it or not. A story like this should have been a leading story on CNN and Fox News and all over news shows like Dateline and 60 Minutes.
