This isn't about the disabled lady receiving help from non-Witnesses and expressing bitterness over either her receiving the home makeover or the possibility that the local JW's in her congregation have done little or nothing for her. For all we know, there might be some in the congregation who do quite a bit for her.
The point is the FACT that the JW's have a long history of being a very anti-charity religion. The case of this lady receiving an extreme home makeover is just being used as a way to put a face on something we are all very well aware of, yet few outside the religion are aware of. The other Christian churches in the U.S. are light-years ahead of the Witnesses in this.
Why shouldn't something like this be used to make more people aware of who is knocking on their doors selling Watchtowers? If it makes the Watchtower Publishing Empire look bad, and it does with what we know so far and knowing them like we all do, why not shine a light on their stinginess?

That may be one of those rare movies that makes me actually enter a theatre.
assemblies used to go for 5 days which caused problems for brothers with work so....it was changed to thursday to sunday......then half of thursday to sunday.....then 3 days only.

I remember the 4-day DC's, but the first day was only a half-day meeting and a half-day of field service.
The only time we did the half-day of field service here, our territory was Alphabet City in Macon. It lasted less than an hour and that was the last time my family ever went in Field Service in Macon. You don't even go near Alphabet City these days unless you're heavily armed.
The 4-day'ers were back in the good old days of full food service, I remember that. Hot breakfast. 'Round here they served halfway decent grits, but the eggs I believe came from roosters and were part of the reason I refuse to eat eggs to this day. Then breakfast was eliminated and we'd stop at the McDonald's at I-16 and North Avenue and I'd be forced to choke down one of those awful Egg McMuffins. That's why I don't eat at McDonald's any more.
Well, that and the fact they stopped frying french fries in beef tallow. Whoever made that decision deserves to burn in hell forever.

Wasn't so lucky. It wasn't until I could drive and owned a car that I got hooked up with edible food of the Southern soul variety.
I'm blessed now. Dawson's Kitchen is right around the corner from me in Payne City and I eat lunch there a few times a week. It's supposed to be just "generic southern" but what it really is is a soul food restaurant. Fried pork chops, fried chicken, fried catfish, fried green tomatoes, collards, turnips, butterbeans, and their mac & cheese is the real deal made fresh from scratch. It is the type of place where they know everyone by name and the food is made just for you.

I got my collard greens seasoning advice straight from the source, a soul fool restaurant. You haven't eaten real food until you've sat down in a hard plastic chair in a run-down looking hole in the wall and eaten fried pork chops, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn bread (fried, not baked).

MrsJones, try this one. Mix up 2 boxes of Jiffy and brown 1 pound ground beef. While cooking the ground beef, add diced jalapenos. Pour 1/2 the batter in the bottom of a baking dish, then drain the ground beef and layer it on top of the cornbread mix, then pour the rest of the batter on top of that.

I'm a member and volunteer at gun shows, signing up new members and giving out info on Georgia law. The BATF had a table set up across from ours at the last show and were sending people over to us all weekend long.
A gun is nothing but a tool. It can be used to perfect a skill, marksmanship. It can be used to provide food. It can also be used to save your life. Self defense is a human right, it is not a privelege granted by government. Why is it ok for rabid hoplophobes like Rosie O'Donnell to have armed security while she protests my right to carry a gun for my own protection?
Concealed and open carry of firearms is legal here in Georgia. I open carry all the time. And yes, I mean even in Wal Mart! 99% of the time, no one even notices the huge .45 on my hip. My XD has never jumped out of its holster and gone on shooting sprees. It is very well behaved. Better behaved, in fact, than many humans. It doesn't drink and drive, talk loudly on its cell phone, or park in handicapped spaces. Ok, I'm exaggerating a little here. My XD doesn't even have a cell phone. The 1% of the time it is noticed, all I get from everyone (including cops) is a positive response, mostly from women.
Armed law abiding citizens aren't the problem. We're the solution. But to the hoplophobes, a woman lying raped and beaten to death in an alley somewhere is morally superior to the healthy one explaining to a cop why there's a dead UT (urban terrorist) at her feet and a smoking gun in her hand.
