Why did she wait so long to leave that that stopping to share the Good News of God's Kingdom would have made her late?

Getting over the "Imperfect Org" defe...
by confuzcious in.
hey guys,.
i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.

We are indeed all imperfect but when people repeatedly gossip, slander, lie, shun and more imperfection should not be used as an excuse. Sin is a missing of the mark and all should try to strive to reach that mark, not purposely miss and try to blame it on imperfection.

Public Talk Déjà vu
by NewYork44M inseveral weeks ago i sat through the public talk and could not believe the lack of substance of the talk.
it was filled with worn out bromides and illustrations that we have all heard hundreds of times.
i was embarrassed for the speaker and flabbergasted that the audience could actual sit through such nonsense.. thenabout half way through the talk, i realized that i recognized the talk.

It's fairly obvious when a public speaker is going through the motions. After "getting the talk out" they don't want to go to any lengths to change or update the talk. One speaker was giving a talk in 2001 about the last days and how the generation of 1914 was getting older. Guess no one bothered to tell him about that change.

The Beginning of Brother and Sister So and So
by Gary1914 indo any of you remember when they used to call the brothers and sisters by their first name from the platform?
the organization was much smaller then and much more intimate than it is today and since we were all "friends" we called each other by our first names even from the platform.. well all that changed one day.
the way i heard it was that some sister whose husband was not in the truth persuaded him to attend the meeting with her one day.

In our congregation baptized members or those close to baptism were addressed as Brother or Sister. Children call by first name. We had one book study conductor who addressed all by first name.

My Daughter's Letter to Elders!
by reubenfine inwell, my daughter decided to write they letter.
the foundation for this letter can be found in my previous thread a couple of days ago which can be found at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=44457&site=3.. she wrote her heart and gave them some good counsel.
she was generous and kind in her comments, yet concise and to the point.

I guess they'll have to wait for their next CO visit so they can be told what to do next.

Did Most At The Kingdom Hall Ignore Or Talk To You
by minimus indid you find that you tended to find yourself alone, without many people to talk to, or were you generally able to chit-chat with the "friends" at the hall?

There were people I'd make a point of going over to and speaking with. I was never a part of the clique so that crew would ignore me and me them.

In the year since I left there are 5 still serving from the 8 I left behind. One (the PO) is a tyrant, two would leave at the drop of a hat but are afraid of the tyrant. One does next to nothing due to a disability that didn't keep him from working until he retired and the other is new. Tyrant is always looking for new recruits.

Door to door work really being done?
by freedom96 inobviously the witnesses are going door to door, but is it as effective as could be?
in all my years as an adult, only once has any witness come to the door preaching "the good news.
" this is once in over 15 years.

Most here have given up on going from door to door. When it's warm out they populate the benches and wave magazines at the passerbys. When it's cold they do RV's or telephone witnessing. Mostly they just walk slow and ask people "Would you like some good news to read this morning?" I used to see a group of 4-6 at 6 AM walking down deserted streets talking to each other and counting their time.

I wonder if the brother cleared this before agreeing to participate. Anyone know his position in the org? Of course if the Society allowed his appearance they can always "cancel" it now that it's public knowledge.
