A workmate just informed me they have been invited to the KH on April 16th. "Oh, you're going to the Memorial," I say. Seems a schoolteacher she has known from 2nd grade gave her a personal invite. "Are you going?" she asks, "Not to the one you are." I haven't told anyone at work I no longer attend the KH and when the subject comes up I usually deflect it. Another workmate overheard and asked why one wouldn't partake of the emblems. I said this was explained during the talk. I asked for a report on the festivities April 17th.

An elder left a paper at my door
by JH insince the last 6 weeks, the elders are trying to get a hold of me, but i specialize in being invisible.
so now they left a little paper at my door asking that i call elder x so that he can talk to me.
do you think i should keep on avoiding them since they are about to end their 3 month call on inactive ones?

Confessions of an ex-elder
by Irreverent insince this forum is for cleansing and healing through sharing, i want to share some confessions of an ex-elder.
how could i have allowed myself to be conned into becoming an elder?
and, after becoming an elder, why did it take me 3 years to finally figure out the hypocrisy of the organization?

Irreverent, I stayed for 4 years but really had an internal struggle to accept the initial appointment. I had an idea of what I was getting into, tried, but realized it was a lost cause. Don't let it get you down.

DF sitting together in KH
by chester inplease help me find a post.. the other day a poster related an experience about how she was told that she was not allowed to sit with another person who was also disfellowshiped.
i have been trying to find that post so i can show it to my wife.
can someone help me find it?

We had a couple of DF people in the old cong. that would stand outside after the meetings talking and laughing together. I don't know if anything was said to either about it. A pioneer sister once remarked how she couldn't go visit or call a sick sister because of the possible contact with the DF one. She was told if that person answered the phone or door to just ask for the person you came to visit.

Blood Transfusion Situation in Antigua

The man is an adult and should be allowed to make that decision. What I find strange is Dr. John's comment that had taken care of hundreds of JW's many of whom have accepted transfusions? Does this mean the elders in Antigua will be directed to conduct investigations to find out the names?

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

A disfellowhipped brother walked up the aisle during the Public Talk yelling from the back to the front: "It's a sin for a man to force another man to lie down with him." Then he sits down in the front row. The elders asked his father to speak to him to get him to leave but he wouldn't. Finally the meeting was stopped, the police were called and took him out. He was then banned from any meetings. He had formerly been in jail and one can only feel bad for what apparently happened there.

by DanTheMan indidn't they see my apostate bumper sticker?
how did they miss it?.
the doorbell rang, i saw a woman wearing a dress, with bookbag in hand, through my door window, i knew immediately.. this is the first time they have come by since i da'd (and i moved right around the time that i da'd, so they weren't from my former cong).. unfortunately i experienced a pretty heavy adrenaline rush, causing me to tense up.

Meetingless Sundays: Guilt-Free ..... and Blissful!
by Room 215 inyup, i just reveled in another of these yesterday... what sheer, unalloyed pleasure!
sleeping an hour or so later, then shedding the pajamas for loose fitting clothes, enjoying a leisurely breakfast with several refills of the coffee mug; an unhurried hour or two with the sunday paper, then a walk with the dog, a short bike ride, a bit of desultory puttering around the garage and backyard; early dinner (or late lunch, however you care to classify it) and a peaceful retreat to easy chari and televiseion as night descends.. to think that unless they're unusually resourceful, proactive and resistant to the proddings of their conscience, an idyll of simple human pleasure like this -- a day of welcome respite and regeneration obviously intended by the creator for his human progeny when he legislated sabbaths-- is forever off limits to faithful dubbies.
sad indeed

Yes Sunday's are for sleeping, lounging, relaxing. Not trussed up in a suit ringing doorbells of people who are either sleeping or enjoying the day. No more Public talks given by a brother on autopilot or WT studies where 90% are waiting for the last paragraph.

Finally received our "shepherding call" today
by Jourles init was inevitable.
after dodging the bullet for a few weeks, the elders finally made their way to our house today.
the reason i think this to be so, is because he asked me what he should write down for my report.

Are all these calls supposed to be done by the end of March? The congregation in receipt of my PRC must have a lot of inactives, I haven't received any calls yet. I know they have my card. Maybe the PO made it disappear? Maybe I should make a shepherding call on the elders. They're not doing their jobs. Am I not worthy of a call?
