Although I am happily celebrating my 2nd year of meetingless life, I know many who still attend and it is totally robotic. They still are waiting for that something that's "just around the corner."

What is the mood in the Kingdom Halls nowadays?
by JH inwhen i used to go the meetings in the late 80's, the mood was good, knowing that the end was close.
later on in the 90's while i still attended once in a while, people were starting to be less zealous and were starting to put their needs before those of the kingdoms.
people started to buy houses, instead of living in apartements, they were buying nicer cars, taking vacations far away, and mostly, the women started to work, to help pay for the better life style they were living.

Witnesses coming Saturday... I need HELP!!!!
by Globetrotter ini got into a rather heated discussion this morning with my unbaptised but raised jehovah's witness wife.
we discussed so many things: feb 1 watchtower article on 607 and 1914, the un, beth sarim, blood, god's mouthpiece here on earth, etc.
this was yet another attempt on my part to try to plant a seed of doubt.

Hello Globetrotter. As has been pointed out, the Witness view of the Bible comes from what they are told to believe by the Society. You could ask them what happened to the generation of 1914? Prior to the mid 90's the Awake! stated it was the Creator's promise that that generation would not pass away before this system was destroyed. If you can get a copy of an Awake! from that time, show them the quote that they have long since removed and ask if it's true God cannot lie what happened to HIS promise?

DUMBO area in Brooklyn says "No!" to watchtower development
by Dogpatch inread the whole article at: http://www.nypost.com/business/13351.htm.
december 14, 2003 -- another real estate turf war is cooking in brooklyn.
this one squares off dumbo dwellers against jehovah's witnesses, whose plans to build a massive housing complex has the trendy neighborhood residents from down under the manhattan bridge overpass fuming.

I suggest you take a look at the neighborhood and agenda of those who are up in arms before sending any letters.

The announcement is made to turn your TIME in. Rarely have I heard an announcement to turn in your field service REPORT. It's all about the hours.

Secret literature
by HarryPotter inalmost the majority of us know that there is a secret book just for the elders which is called "pay attention..." everybody knows that the society defends herself saying that the book is not secret becasue it was shown to the witnesses in an assambley and there is a picture of it in the book proclaimers so she askes how the book could be a secret.
well, acccording to my dicctionary for learners of english says: secret; something that is secret is known about by only a small number of peple, and is not told or shown to anyone else.
so the book is secret.

Anyone wanting a lapel card can simply go to the lost and found and pick one up. Unless things have changed in the last couple of years they would put them right on the tables along with the lost songbooks, Bibles, etc.

I was in the audience to see the play "The Good Faith" along with the NYC Ex-JW Yahoo group last week. This play is based on the experiences of Richard and Francis Rawe. There's a song in the show entitled: "Disfellowshipped and Shunned." After the show, I had the opportunity to speak to some of the cast members and enlighten them on what it means to be shunned. One asked if an active JW would be allowed to see the show. People outside the org. really have no idea the amount of control exerted on the minds of those in. If you have the opportunity I recommend you see this show. It runs thru December 7th.

Sad to Say ?
by Blueblades in.
why does the wt.society use this phrase so much in their literature and talks from the platform.. for example:sad to say that when a wife refuses her husband the sexual due,sad to say she is contributing to his adulteress affair.found in the wt.also, sad to say, even some of those promonent in the society have been guilty of sex offenses.and then ,sad to say, some grownups like to have sex with children, from the new great teacher book, page 170.. why use the phrase "sad to say?
"prior to making their point on sexual issues?do you know of other issues where they use the term, phrase,"sad to say".just curious as to the purpose of using those words.. blueblades

Now I`ll be disfelowshiped for sure ...
by invictus inwell after two months of silence i got a couple of phone calls from my "best jw friends".
probably motivated by november watchtower instructions, they were nice asking about a family, kids etc, and then came "the" question: when are you going back to the meetings?
i told them again reasons why not ,yet they tried to be sympathetic by warning: as long as you do not go around and bad-mouth the organization we can still be friends.

Someone told me this weekend about this article. Which mag was it? I'd hate to have to ask for more than one and boost the circulation figures.
