This makes me feel sad for some of the Bethelites I used to know. The day will come when they're kicked to the curb and have to rely on someone "back home" to give them a job mopping in an office building. As for the others I used to know that day can't come soon enough.

Looking for info on CO Pedro and Levine Hienz from Philly
by sis in distress inhe looked like al jareau/ louis farakan with his little bow tie and his wife looked like venessa williams a light skinned woman with green eyes.
they were the cooliest couple i had ever met in the traveling work- they had a style that was very unusal, in most cases the wife if often times unknown and stands in the showdow of her man, not levine she was all woman- smile.
alot of the boys had a crush on her - she never got fresh but she was just nice-.

Sorry to hear of this. Hope you're feeling better soon. I saw John Saturday, he didn't say anything.

When you moved, did you feel obliged to stay in the same congregation?
by JH inhere in quebec, people move alot.
july 1st comes around, and every year about 10% of the population moves to a better apartment.
i'm no exception, and during my dub years i moved about 5 times in 8 years, always trying to find a better or cheaper place.

I know of a couple of elders who moved out of the territory and were told if they wanted to remain elders they had to change congregations.

I can't really get worked up about this woman and the loss of her view. People in the neighborhood were living in illegal lofts and used their $$$ and political clout to make it legal. Now if the WT wants to take advantage of this that's life.

Cappucino and Coverups: my JW neighbor came over today...
by bebu inmy jw neighbor wasn't able to come on monday after all, but we rescheduled our meeting for today (wednesday).
on monday, i had a bit of material around, and my next-door neighbor stopped in.
i found out that she was in a bible study with some jws!

I can just see your neighbor running back to the elders and them warning her about "apostate" material and keeping in step with "present truth" (now that's an interesting phrase) and not worrying about the old beliefs because of the light getting brighter.
Maybe hearing that will help her to see it really is a coverup.

Tonight I am sad..very sad
by fulano in.
i was thinking of our friends who were tortured and who died in the concentration-camps in germany and other countries during ww2..and that all in vane as i understand now.. i was thinking of the missionaries of age who are frustrated in their assignments, who see how their lives have gone with no reward and finally without a purpose.. i was thinking of bethelites of age, with no change to go back into real world.. i am glad i had the guts to leave missionary-work at the age of almost 40 and at least have the next 40 years a real life!.

I was thinking along those same lines the other day. Every time I see an elderly pioneer who can barely walk going out day after day in all kinds of conditions, and for what? We got out and I hope many more can do the same.

Announcing that Elders are no longer Elders
by Spudinator inin the past year or so a local congregation has had several announcements that "so-and-so is no longer serving as an elder.".
one of these elders has served in the watchtower organization since the 1940's.
one thing apparent is the "organization's" lack of recognition and/or appreciation for its own.

After an elder was "deleted" in a former congregation, a sister asked me if she could still speak to him.

Do they still give the higer rank elders at Bethel Luxury Cars?
by Dan76 ini grew up in nyc.
my book study conductor was one of the more senior elders in his department.
i used to remember that bethel always gave him (or at least loaned him for ministerial use) a real nice, tricked out, brand new lexus.

Lexus didn't start selling cars in the U.S. until 1989. The Society has always favored U.S. models which they could lease. Some cars are made available to transport certain brothers around. All senior members I knew who had cars owned them.
