hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.
Asked me if I was saying that I did not think this was God's only Channel and told him from what I am reading old and new history I can say right now I dont think it is but open to them showing me why it is.
Uh Oh Sheri, you might have just set yourself up to be disfellowshiped. This is a key question they ask before they disfellowship someone. I would be very careful with what you say around elders. They have a way of remembering just certain phrases. Good luck in your studies.

I myself believe that there are beings on other planets. My mother and I used to get into heated discussion because she said that the bible says nothing about life on other planets. I said just because the bible doesn't mention it, that doesn't mean it can't be true.
I was watching an interesting program on this subject the other day and on very respected professor of physics brought up a point I never thought of. We always think of an alien race only being hundreds of years more advance than us. Therefore there is no way they could manage to travel through space and visit our planet. But when you take into consideration that the universe is over 12 billions years old, an alien race could easily be over a billion years more advance than us. They could have come up with ways of traveling through the universe that we can't even conceive of right now. So the thought of aliens visiting our planet isn't that far fetched after all. Heck we have already theorized about wornholes to travel through space. I say it's just a matter of time before we will be visiting other planets outside our solar system. Remember, just over a 100 years ago people would have thought you were a nut case if you said one day we would be flying around in big metal tubes with wings or landing on the moon. Makes one think.
(Disclaimer: I have never seen a UFO, been abducted by aliens, or attended any Star Trek conventions. I just your average guy with an open mind.)

You have a great opportunity here. Instead of you converting, try bringing him out. It could be the best thing you ever do for him. It doesn't sound as if he's very strong in the religion, so it might not be that hard. Read up on the different threads here to see why you should help him out of this mind control organization. You will learn that this religion is all about control. They try to control every little detail of your life, what you wear, watch, listen to, and who you associate with. Give your boyfriend the greatest gift of his life. A way out of this religion.
I was raised a JW and baptised at age 23. I met a wonderful baptist girl at 26 and with her help began my exit. I haven't went to a meeting in over 8 years. We were married when I was 30. She also found allot of hypocrisy in her church and has since left. Even though niether of us go to chuch, we love each out unconditionally and are very happy. I am so much happier now and still feel I am a very spiritual person. Just because I don't belong to a certain religion, doesn't mean I can't worship God. Good Luck!!

i had heard of accounts of young baptisms, but i figured it was the exception rather than the rule.
now i wonder, after viewing the models of youth paraded at the last assembly.
i took note of the ages and age of baptism of the five young men (no girls this time) who were interviewed as models of jw youth at this last week's assembly.

Yes, God forbid they associate with "nice people". These kids are going to grow up to be social misfits. I hope they wise up later in life and make some real friends. I know I'm a little bitter because I didn't get to play sports while in school. Thank goodness my mom let me have some "worldly" friends.
If I was a newly interested one at this assemlby, I would think that the witnesses think they are too good to associate with us lowly non-JW's. Oh wait, that is what they think. I would have run screaming out of that assemlby hall.

Yep, all the 4 year olds I know talk and write excatly like that. Even quote scripture in our conversations. Can they really expect the rank & file to believe that a 4 year old wrote this. Then again, they expect them to believe blood fractions has nothing to do with whole blood.
