I guess I really don't feel much of anything. I was raised in it so it's not my fault I was taught all that BS. Besided if I wasn't raised a JW my life would be totally different now. I wouldn't have moved to a new town, met my incredible wife, and started a great job. Yeah I was raised a JW and even got baptised, but I'm not going to let that bother me now that I'm out. I'm not embarrased to tell people I was a JW. Heck if anything if they know I was a JW and have any questions I can warn them ahead of time to run screaming from the witnesses.

How Do YOU Feel Knowing That YOU Were In A Cult?
by minimus infor years, i refused to think of the witnesses as a "cult".
too harsh and restrictive of a word for me......but there is no denying that we were all in a mind controlling cult.
are you embarrassed or uncomfortable knowing that you belonged to a cult just like the moonies and the branch davidians are/werw a cult?

What did they all do on "worldly holidays" when you were home alone?
by LongHairGal ini always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.
what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.
but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??

I got phone calls many times. Every time someone was moving I got a call. Every time someone had computer problems I got a call. They always knew who I was when there was a gift or money to contribute, or some physical labor to be done. There was plenty of upbuilding association - upbuilding for everyone but me.
Aint that the truth. When I moved to a new town the only time I was invited over to the "brothers" homes was to fix their computer or help with something. That really pissed me off. I missed work and the meetings once for over 2 weeks when I came down with a serious respiratory infection. Not one of my so called "friends" called or came by to check on me. They just hounded me when I went back to the meeting to see why I had missed. Ironicly, my "worldly" workmates and landlady checked on me, made me dinner, and my landlady even let me pay my rent late since I hadn't worked in 2 weeks. That was one of the first things that opend my eyes. I finally started seeing who my true friends were.

What movies make you think of the Borg?...
by Hecklerboy ini was watching a great sci-fi movie the other day (chronicles of riddick) and there was a phrase in the movie that jumped out at me.
a soldier was being promoted and he said the phrase "obedience without question, loyalty till underverse comes".
i thought "wow, just replace underverse with armageddon and that sound just like the witnesses".

Guess I'm going to have to rent The Village this weekend. I was never really interested in watching it, but now I'm curious.

A soldier was being promoted and he said the phrase "Obedience without question, Loyalty till Underverse comes". I thought "Wow, just replace Underverse with Armageddon and that sound just like the Witnesses". In fact the whole movie had allot of aspects of the JW's. Fanatic religous sect going from world to world either converting or destroying them. Mind control, the taking away of pain with the promise of life in the Underverse, backstabbing and plotting against each other.
So what movies remind you of the Borg?
PS. If you like Sci-Fi movies, I highly recommend this movie. Stunning visuals and a great storyline. It's the sequal to Pitch Black.

Last JW meeting
by greendawn inwhen you finally came to the jw meeting that you knew was your last one, what were your thoughts, feelings or actions?
.
my last was the summer convent of 1986. i stood there until everyone left and then i took a picture with my new camera of the empty stadium, the wish being that the wts would collapse and never fill up again stadiums with people.

I was at a Ciruit Assembly. Halfway through the morning session a started looking around at people and thought to myself "What am I doing here?". I got up and walked out in the middle of the program. Never went back after that. I can still picture it in my head today. It was a beautiful sunny day when I walked out. I rememeber taking a deep breath of fresh air and smiling as I walked to my truck. The feeling of freedom was amazing. I took the rest of the day to visit with my mother.
PS. I was in a different curcuit than my mother so my family didn't attend the same CA as I did.

Has any wife hosted a party and her husband got all the credit?
by codeblue in.
how did that make you feel?
could you believe how "invisible you were made to feel" after you did most of the work, and received no recognition or appreciation?

This brings back memories of whem my wife was judging a beauty pageant and we rode with an older couple to the pageant. The older man told my wife that when they ask her what her hobbies were that she could say she enjoys cooking and cleaning the house. My wife spoke up very quickly and told him that she is a Registered Nurse working in an ICU and that she is also attend classes to get her Master's degree. I just sat back and smiled.
Another time we were shopping for funiture and the salesman automatically started talking to me and asking me what I wanted to spend. Then he make the comment that "she's spending all my money". I just laughed and said that she makes more money than I do. He got a real worried look on his face and started sucking up to my wife. I was priceless.

I'm happy to say that I passed with flying colors. I even recieved high marks on my fighting ability. I'm not trying to brag, well maybe a little. It's just so nice to be able to do the things you've always dreamed of doing without a bunch of religous hypocrits getting on your case.
If your out of the Borg or on your way out. Make sure you make time to do that special thing you've always wanted to do. You won't regret it.

So sick and tired of the double standard
by ValiantBoy infor a group that constantly bitches about people needing to accomadate it's beliefs and practices, jw's sure are inflexible and intolerant.
i realize that we all already know that, but is of special irritation to me right now.
my oldest sister, who is faded and now regularly attends a worldly church, is getting married.

The same thing happened to me when I got married. I was out for over 4 years and my mother and sister refused to come to the wedding even when we told them we were having it outside so they didn't have to go into a church.
The funny thing is they said that coming to the wedding would be approving of me marrying a "worldly" person, but it's OK to come visit and stay the weekend with me and my "worldly" wife. What kind of reasoning is that? Also my mother was more than happy to attend both of my brother's weddings. She even participated in them. Her reasoning was he was never baptised so it was OK to attend, but since I was baptised it would be wrong. Go figure. Then my sister had the nerve to ask me why I didn't attend her wedding. I told her she didn't come to mine so why should I come to her's. She never did get it.
I can tell my mother regrets this decision now. She has practically said it outloud to me.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. Hard to believe I'm 35 today. I still feel like I'm only 27. They say you only as old as you think you are, so I guess I'm doing OK.

I finally went and did something I've always wanted to do growing up as a witness. I joined a Karate class. Man it is great. I've been in it for about 2 months. It's a great workout and I'm picking it up pretty quick. All those lies they told us about it being violent and religious is way off. They teach self-defense only and respect of others.
I go for my yellow belt test this weekend. Wish me luck!
