Bouncing Back from the Witness Mindset

bouncing back from the witness mindset it was not that long ago that some of us on this board re-.

flected the thought patterns of jehovah's witnesses.

other words, the brainwashing thought patterns instilled.

I would have to say that I am completely over think like a JW. Even though my family is totally in and I'm totally out I still find it strange listening to them talking JW talk. It sounds completely alien to me. I no longer try to hide what I'm doing just so they don't feel uncomfortable. I'll tell them about my martial arts training and my wife's college classes. It's kind of strange when I mention these things and they completely ignore them. One time my sister called me in the middle of a martial arts competition and she ask what all the yelling was about. I told her what I was doing and she quickly changed the subject.

I'm sitting here at work right now playing a Christmas CD on my computer and waiting anxiously for Christmas. My absolute favorite time of year.

So yes, I'm completely over the JW way of thinking, I'm thinking for myself now.

I had no idea that anti-JW sites had been around so long. It seems like as soon as the internet went mainstream, anti-JW sites started popping up.

This is what I invisioned the internet to become when it first got started. People sharing information from all over the world. Helping each other and sharing a common bond. Something the WTB$ knows nothing about.

Oh yeah, the internet also helps me get mountain bike parts at a great price too.

What's the most stupid comment a JW told you?

i remember when i was new in the "troof", i was walking in a mall and a jw window washer saw me, and asked, "what are you doing here"?.

yeah, he had a good reason to be at the mall, cause he was washing windows, but i had no business there.... i guess he thought that i was being seduced by material stuff.... and i was stupid enough, not to tell him, mind your own business fu**er....

When I ask an elder why it was OK to eat lobster since they are cooked alive and not bleed properly.

He said that "there wasn't enough blood in lobster to matter".

So does that mean a small blood transfusion is OK?

Does the bible contradict itself?...

i was watching a interesting documentary on the ark of the covenant this weekend and had an interesting thought.. when moses went up on the mountain to get the 10 commandment the iseralites got tired of waiting and made a golden calf to worship.

when moses got back and saw this he was outraged and had allot of them killed because of this.. now consider this.

after receiving the 10 commandments (which forbid idol worship) they build a box, cover it with gold, put 2 statues of angels on the lid, and place the 10 commandments inside.

I was watching a interesting documentary on the Ark of the Covenant this weekend and had an interesting thought.

When Moses went up on the mountain to get the 10 commandment the Iseralites got tired of waiting and made a golden calf to worship. When Moses got back and saw this he was outraged and had allot of them killed because of this.

Now consider this. After receiving the 10 commandments (which forbid idol worship) they build a box, cover it with gold, put 2 statues of angels on the lid, and place the 10 commandments inside. They assign it supernatural powers (don't touch it or you will die ) and also carry it into battle with them. Later they build a temple and place it in the Holy of Holys and only allow one person to enter that room. Now if that's not idol worship, what is?

So why does God forbid idol worship but then encourages his people to do just that?

What are some other contradictions you have found in the bible?

I thought I was alone

i just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.

i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.

he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

I too was raised in the "truth". I missed out on allot of things. Like playing sports in school, going to dances, and hanging out with friends. I totally missed out on a normal childhood. I'm so happy I got out of that messed up religion.

I too remember sitting at the book study reading the Revelation book and think how in the world can they apply biblical prophecies mades over 2000 years ago to a small group of men living in New York. They are totally mental. If you read some of the old quotes from the Watchtower and Awake you can see real quickly that the Society is not even close to having God's direction. They continually contradict themselves and spew totally false information. One of the statements they made in the Watchtower that really bothered was how if a woman didn't scream while being raped that she could be disfellowedshipped for fornication. Only a nut would say such a ignorant thing.

I hope your journey of enlightenment will be a fruitful one. It might be a rough ride but once you learn the truth about the "truth" there is no going back.

Nurses, unite!

just wondering how many of us are nurses?

i'm a licenced practical nurse (working on my rn degree), and i work as a cosmetic dermatology specialist.

i see about 10 to 16 patients per day, doing things like laser hair removal treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, skin care consultations, etc.

My wife has been a Registered Nurse for 7 years and will finish her Master's Degree in Nursing this May. She will be a Family Nurse Practitioner.
