Don't listen to the "Stone Temple Pilots"
If you don't follow all the rules of the witnesses you are not a JW
No playing music in the sound system when cleaning the hall
No listening to Rap - not even Will Smith
what are the worst rules you've ever heard being dispensed from the platform?
"christians do not dance to ymca, as it promotes homosexuality.

now that i'm divorced i finally broke down and bought me a harley.
i've always wanted one but the ex always kept me from buying one.
i used to ride when i was in high school and now i realize how much i really missed it.
The shiney thing on the exhuast is the Vance & Hines logo.
This Harley is part of their dark custom series. Almost no chrome and lots of black.

Now that I'm divorced I finally broke down and bought me a Harley. I've always wanted one but the ex always kept me from buying one. I used to ride when I was in high school and now I realize how much I really missed it. I'm also using it to reconnect with my brother who is a diehard Dub but still likes to ride. So I make the 1 1/2 trip back home from time to time to get in a ride with him. Hopefully it will make us closer.
Here's a pic for you viewing pleasure

i really feel i have no one to turn to who understands other than you guys of course.
i'm just really sad and crying a lot and missing my whole extended familly who are all witnesses.
i basicly have me my husband and two kids and my 2 sisters who are out.
Try to make contact with your dad. He knows you were only 14 when you told him that. Surely he can't hold that against you. He will probably be very happy to find that you finally broke free. I hope everything works out for you and we will always be here to listen.
it's been about a year now that i've posted on this site.
so i thought i would catch you all up.
my life has been a rollercoaster the past year.
Thanks all,
The words of encouragement really help.
I'm also working on my Mechanical Engineering Degree. My company is paying for it so that keeps me busy as well. Although I've taken a litte break since all this has happened. I really need to get back on that.
it seems funny to hear how some get love bombed, others get left alone when they fade.
i moved and told nobody - by the time they figured i was 'weak', it was too late - i was gone.
so honestly, what was it like for you when you left the 'organization'?
I made my decision on day at a CA. Just got up in the middle of the session and walked out. Greatest feeling ever. I remember it was a beautiful sunny day and I smiled all the way to the car. I've never been back. A couple of people have ask about me and my family tries to get to rejoin from time to time but no one seems to really care if I'm there or not. Which is just the way I like it.

No, my wife never was a witness and I was fading when we met.
She is actually a baptist. Adultery seems to run in her family. Her grandfather, dad, mother, and twin sister have all cheated. Her twin sister was cheating on her husband at the same time my wife was cheating on me. Weird huh?

Hello all,
It's been about a year now that I've posted on this site. So I thought I would catch you all up.
My life has been a rollercoaster the past year. Last year about this time I came home from a camping trip and found out my wife had been cheating on my for about 3 months. I was suspicious and eventualy found proof of it. We decided to try to save our marriage and went to counseling. It helped me find out allot about myself and my wife. However in March she handed me divorce papers and we filed them. So after 8 years I'm on my own again. I'm living by myself in an apartment and trying to enjoy life again.
It's really hard getting used to being alone again. Especially coming home to an empty apartment every evening. I'm staying busy with my karate classes (I'll get my blackbelt this fall) and working out at the gym in the evenings. I also bought myself a Harley Davidson and I'm riding it allot as well. Still doing the mountain biking however with gas prices it's cheaper to ride the Harley than haul the mountain bike to the trails.
I've been catching up with old friends and even had the chance to visit with an old witness friend that I haven't seen for 17 years. We talked allot about the organization and how we are both much happier now that we are out. I faded and he got disfellowshiped.
Not sure if I want to start dating anytime soon but I'm pretty lonely so I might give it a try.
Hope everyone is doing good and I hope to talk to some of you now that I'm back on my feet.

I was around in the 80's when they were really slamming education. Thank God my mom was wise enough to make sure i get some kind of education. She made sure I went to a vocational school to study drafting which has given me a nice career. Now you have to have a 4 year degree just to get an entry level office position at my company. In contrast, on the production floor you don't need an education. However, it can get to 100 degrees in the summer and it's very hard labor. Everytime I walk out onto the production floor I remind myself of how fortunate I am to have a good education.
Usally once a year I go to the local high school on career day to speak about engineering and drafting. I encourage all the kids to go to college and get some kind of degree. Some will come out and say they don't want to go to college, so I encourage them to go to the local vacational school to get training.
All of the lurkers out there: it's very, very, very, hard to get a good paying job (above poverty level) without some kind of extra education. Please make sure you or your children get the education needed to live good lives.

"Bachelors, masters no good." -- that's why I got my Doctorate. smile.
At the company I'm employeed at you can't get anywhere without a Bachelors degree. They won't even look at you resume' if you don't have one.
Fortunately I was hired before they set this standard. However, I'm having a hard time getting promoted because I only have a technical degree from a vocational school. Even though I do the same job as the other's with a Bachelors degree. You really need a degree in today's society.
Oh yeah, and let them tell my wife this BS about not being able to find a job in you field of study. She just got her Master's in Nursing Science to be a Nurse Practitioner and has 3 doctors actively recruiting her for their different practices. Her salary will literally double next month. Also a friend of mine who is a Nurse Practitioner had 9 clinincs recruiting her to practice at thier facility. It's great when you get to interview your potential employer.
I just feel sorry for the rest of my family that's still in the cult. Theywork for very low pay at very hard jobs. They have no retirement and no health insurance. But hey, they are told they are happy people so I guess it's OK.
