i had heard of accounts of young baptisms, but i figured it was the exception rather than the rule.
now i wonder, after viewing the models of youth paraded at the last assembly.
i took note of the ages and age of baptism of the five young men (no girls this time) who were interviewed as models of jw youth at this last week's assembly.
CN said it was hard to avoid nice people, but he had to remember it could put him in situations where he would have unnecessary association with them.
Yes, God forbid they associate with "nice people". These kids are going to grow up to be social misfits. I hope they wise up later in life and make some real friends. I know I'm a little bitter because I didn't get to play sports while in school. Thank goodness my mom let me have some "worldly" friends.
If I was a newly interested one at this assemlby, I would think that the witnesses think they are too good to associate with us lowly non-JW's. Oh wait, that is what they think. I would have run screaming out of that assemlby hall.

i was on the silent lambs website and on it there are some quotes taken from wts publications; they are classic...absolute gems in support of the wts mind control, take a look...does anyone else have some great quotes...these are almost laughable if they werent so scary.. .

Wow, I'm saving that one for later. This really shows how much control the WTS has over their life.
Obey us, Obey us, Obey us.

" another fine example for our youths is that of 4 year old "jessica", who wrote to the society to express appreciation for the faithful slaves' counsel regarding what to do if one is tempted to read any of the "poison" of apostate literature; "i am writing to you dear brothers to express my sincere, heartfelt appreciation to those of you entrusted with the administration of carrying out our master jesus' spiritual directive to supply us with our 'food at the proper time'.
as a young one, it is sometimes difficult to resist the great deceiver: satans' crafty acts.
2006???
I didn't even catch that. Makes me wonder now.

4 year old "Jessica",
Yep, all the 4 year olds I know talk and write excatly like that. Even quote scripture in our conversations. Can they really expect the rank & file to believe that a 4 year old wrote this. Then again, they expect them to believe blood fractions has nothing to do with whole blood.

Sorry, can't get a picture to link
my copy came in and i picked it up today.
i have a friend that i met online.....about 5 years ago.
at the time he was an elder and i was a struggling sister.
great book! I want to get my hands on In Search of Christian Freedom now....
That was my favorite of the two. I really like the way it disspells allot of the basic doctrine of the borg. I especially like the chapter on disfellowshiping.
why am i surprised on reading the latest watchtower, the april 15 2005?
i had thought that the wtbts would at least be cautious in making its prophecies now.
surely after over 100 years of failed prophecy you might be a bit more careful, or would you?.
One more thing I noticed in that article that was odd, was that 'the creator will create conditions on that earth that will favour long life.' What's with the 'long life' and not 'eternal life'?
Yeah, what's up with that? The used to say "everlasting life" now it's "favours long life". Looks like they are doing a little backpeddeling to me. I think they're trying to cover their @sses after Armegedon too.
i know there's a lot of elder bashing here.
most of it is quite justified.
i'm curious as to whether all your dealings with the elders were horrible.
Maybe this is a regional thing, but I never had an elder treat me with anything other than love and respect. Especially in the congregation I grew up in the elder's were very loving. Maybe it was because my father died when I was 8 years old and they thought I needed some guidance. When I moved I wasn't as close to the elder but by that time I was already on my way out.
The elders weren't the reason I left. I just couldn't stand the JW lifestyle.
i've taken a leaf from holly's book to thank your for having me on the forum - thirteen interesting days but came to realise one cannot achieve much speaking from behind a screen.
people do not know who you really are, nor do you they.
i read many of holly's posts but few others.
Another one is bowing out.
Looks like the society is cracking down on internet use again. Must have had a talk recently about "bad association" on the net.
Ahhh, nothing like cracking the whip to keep the slaves inline.
Wake up and start thinking for yourself.
