And what if after 10 or 20 years they realize it's not the "truth"
That has to be the most sickening feeling there is. Knowing that you let your child die for a cult.
That would drive me insane.
when i was a teenager my best friends little brother (baby) died because he was refused a blood transfussion.
it really bothered me even though i thought they did the right thing.. now that i'm out i was talking to my wife about it and the whole blood thing and came to the realization that they did it just to save themselves.. think about it.
if you allow your child to have a blood transfusion, who is god going to blame?

Think about it. If you allow your child to have a blood transfusion, who is God going to blame? You or the child?
Obviously he will blame you. Even the society says that it's not the child's fault if the parents allow a blood transfusion.
So in my opinion they are just selfishly saving themselves.
I for one would gladly die to save my child. And if God wants to kill me for saving my child's life, then so be it.
P.S. I don't have any children yet, and I totally disagree with the blood policy.
i can understand some of the shorthand terms used on this site but could anyone elighten me on the above?

O.K. It's official. We are all a bunch of geeks. We know entirely too much about Star Trek.
But I must confess I still watch it ocassionly on the G4 channel on Dish Network.
I'd have to say 10.
Love life and love living it.
just wanted to start a topic on an event that will occur sometime later this year - namely my sister is to be married.
she is a witness as is her boyfriend, none of his family are in but only myself and my dad are not (he has never joined) from my sister imediate family.
so i was wondering what to expect, what experiences people here have had being someone who has left and then later been disfellowshipped, and then finding they might be invited to a witness wedding?
On the flipside. My mother and sister wouldn't come to my wedding because I no longer go to the meeting and was marrying a "worldly" person. Yet they had no problem coming to visit and stay the weekend.
my uncle died last week so the wife and i went to his funeral a couple of days ago.
he was a baptist so he actually had a nice funeral and they talked about him and what he like to do.
the preacher even shared some memories of talking with him on the street of our small town and how happy he was, never complaining about his illness (cancer).. well my 2 brothers and my sister were there (all witnesses).
I mentioned to my wife on our way home that I hope I wasn't like they were when I was a witness. I don't remember being down on people for their belifs.
Maybe that's how I was able to get out. I was able to open my mind and see the good in other people.
Oh yeah, at the viewing they told me my mom who suffering from Alhziemers was telling how when my dad became a witness my uncle called him a Son of a Bitch. She came right out and said it in front of everyone. They said they were so embarrased. I just laughed and told them to give her a break. I mean she litterally losing her mind. Witnesses need to relax a little.
My wife and I also talked about how the society comes down so hard on education. I was telling her about SickofLies recordings and how they blamed his questions on education. She said she has never heard of a religion being so down on religion. I told her it's their way of keeping people in line. As soon as you start thinking for yourself you see how ridiculous their teachings are.

Well my 2 brothers and my sister were there (all witnesses). We were talking before the funeral and they mentioned that the VFW would be giving him a 21 gun salute. I said with great excitement that was a great thing. They all got the funniest look of disgust on their faces. I told them that he deserved a 21 gun salute since he defended our country in the Navy.
During the service the preacher kept saying how we can only gain salvation through Jesus and no amount of work will save us. He also said the Jesus doesn't care what religion were are as long as we look to him for salvation.
Well after the service, we were at my mother's house and she ask how the funeral went. (She couldn't make it...illness). My wife and I both said it was nice and that they spoke about my uncle allot. My brother and sister both said it was horrible and that the preacher had no clue what he was talking about. I told them that it doesn't matter what they believe. The funeral was for my aunt and that what my uncle and her believed so they should respect that. I got no response to that. My wife was very proud of me standing up for my uncle's beliefs.
I just blows my mind how condesending JW's can be of other people beliefs. Even at a family member's funeral.

I think the reason they ran the article is because Summersville just spent a few million on a new National Guard Armory and convention center and they need to show that they are actually using the convention center for a variety of things. They've held a few gun show there and the Oakridge Boys are coming soon. Man won't that be a wild show.
On another thought, isn't it a little hypocritical for a religion that says you can have nothing to do with the military to be holding their conventions at a National Guard Armory?

im not sure whether sickoflies posted his audio file of his recent jc committee meeting and related disfellowshipping on this website or not yet, but if you havent listened to it, i encourage you to do so.
i know richierich (hang in there bro) is going through a tough time, and sickoflies must be having an equally tough time.
I too was amazed at the lack of love shown in the JC. I was really suprised when one of the elders started yelling at SOL because he should be at home with his wife instead of at the JC. You could tell these men had no idea of how to backup the Watowers claims.
I've jsut started listening to the appeal committee and they are also having a hard time backing up the Watchtower's claims.
Just goes to show how they really don't have God's backing.
