I also hated the fact that you could clap when someone gave their first talk in the ministry school, but never after that. That was so stupid!!!!
I remember that. I always thought that was stupid as well.
I always hated the the term "unapproved associate". They used it to disfellowship unbaptised kids.
I never could believe that the entire book of Revelation was written about some obscure sect of Christianity that wouldn't exist for almost 2000 years.

I feel so sorry for my nephews and nieces. They are going to be stuck barely making it through life with nothing to look forward to.
My brothers and sister that are still JW's can barely make ends meet. It's just sad that a billion dollar non-profit organization makes them live this way.

All this talk about thanking and praising brings up another thought.
Why does the most powerful being in the universe need an insignificant creature like humans praising him? Why does he even care? Seems a litte egotistical to me. I mean if you are interested is space and time then you realize just how small and insignificant we really are. I just can't imagine our praise does anything for God.
Just for the record: I'm on the fence as to weather there really is a God or not. But sometimes I breakdown a pray when things get real bad. Like when my marriage was going down the tubes. Guess he didn't answer that one for me. Strike one up for there being no God.

Everytime I talk to someone about praying they say that they pray all the time. Talk to God whenever they can. Well I'm just the opposite. I only pray when it's something really big that I can't handle on my own. I don't see the point of bothering God with the boring details of my life. My way of thinking is this: God put us on this earth, gave us intelligence and freewill. He taught us what we are supposed to do and sent us on our way. I think we should be able to make decision on our own and deal with the consequences of those decison without asking for his help constantly. If you had a child that you raised and they moved out would you want them calling you constantly asking for help with every little decision. Sure you would would help them if they were in trouble and needed you. But wouldn't get annoying if they constantly called and ask for help. Wouldn't it make you wonder if you did a good job raising them?
I also think that it kind of cheapins the value of prayer. I just doesn't seem as important if you do it all the time. This is the most powerful being in the universe we are talking to. I hate to bother him/her/it if I don't have to.
So what your take on praying? All the time or just when you need serious help?

what was the one sound bite or comment that helped you see the light?
by siy inthis was a few years ago now, i was on the work one day with an elders elder.. you now the type!.

"how you are viewed by others (& so treated) is a reflection of how god views you".

Troggle: I remember them doing that to unbaptised ones. They were called "Unappoved Associates". My best friend became one. Funny my mom still let me hang with him.
The one thing that got me thinking was when I was at a wedding in the early nineties and the elder giving the talk said the wedding rings had pagan origins but that the society doesn't look at them that way. I thought "WTF". They are alway hammering on "worldly" people for saying the samething about Halloween and Christmas. Five years later I was out and never went back.

Engineering seems to be a good field to get into right now. In fact we are needing a couple as I type this.
I've been taking classes on-line for the past year to get a Associates in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The school I'm enrolled at is great. The mail you all the study materials and you work at your own pace. Makes it easy to work full-time and go to school.
Check them out...

Since you didn't get presents "year round", do you go overboard now?
by WingCommander inthere is another thread being discussed as to if you got gifts throughout the year as jw's claim.
many like me, whom were raised in the jw's, either had poor parents or picky ones that claimed you were being "materialistic" if you wanted toys, gifts, nice clothing, etc.
this made me wonder, since we were somewhat deprived of the nice things that others had growing up, does that make us more apt to buy the "best of everything" now....that is, if we can?

I go really overboard when buying gifts for other people. I put allot of thought into it and really try to get them something that they will love. I tell them I've only been celebrating holidays for about 10 years so to me it like being a 10 year old again.
Sad part is, I tend to deprive myself too much. I'm always trying to justify buying myself something or making sure I'm not wasting my money. Although I just bought a Harley and I'm starting to customize it. So I think I'm getting over that.

Lately I've been finding older women very hot. I'm currently seeing a woman that is 11 years older than me. I also find a woman that is a good mom very sexy.
Looks wise. I love huge boobs and a tight butt. Pretty eyes and good skin.
Curently I drool over this hottie evey morning on CNN Headline News
