Can't you just see Jesus helping out only his twelve in a time of disaster? In any time? And yes, I believe the story, but as most JW stories go, it is only "part" of the whole story. The part that makes them feel good and feel superior. What a tiny world they live in. Sad......

in the final talk at our district convention we were told that the printing plants are working at only 50% capacity (due, it was implied, by divine intervention).. the thought was expressed that this may be because there is going to be a massive increase in numbers coming into the organisation requiring more printing.. as we all know, growth has been minimal over many years now, so the question, where is this growth to come from, and if it comes, how are we going to stop the massive haemorrhage in brothers leaving?.

What I find so interesting is that IF they truly believe that they have life-saving information for all the nations, why don't they publish it on the internet like they mean it. Spending money on paper and presses to meet the growing need is so yesterday.
Why can't they publish the schedules for their meetings (open to the public), conventions (open to the public), memorials (open to the public) on the web? Why can't you download the articles for study from the web? It would save them millions of dollars and the earth a lot of trees. The magazines end up in closets and laudromats and the trash before they are even read.
A friend of mine went to watchtower.org the other night and said "WTF?" "Who are they talking to? Sounds like they are talking to a bunch of retards." Any intellectual appeal that once was a part of the org is long gone. The brain drain has taken its toll and it is showing.
But it is true that if they make their one money-making commodity FREE on the internet, well I guess that would be bad for business. Where is the biblical basis for running a huge conglomerate to make disciples? And if it has ANYthing to do with reaching the "masses", then they are just stupid, because the masses are here. Oh right, they aren't stupid, they're scared.
PS If you don't know this, if you try to send them an email, you have to fill out a form on their site with all of your contact info. Then they tell you in their privacy statement how much they respect your privacy and won't violate it!!!! LOL!!!!! I never saw such a bunch of big babies in my life.

"This just can't last much longer...."

my mom broke her hip while we were in hawaii, and i've been mostly house/bed ridden myself since we got home.
so i finally got over there today.. we talked a little about the hurricane, which was on the news she turned off.

It IS frustrating to try to get back "into" the mindset where you would be agreeing all along, because you NOW realize how flawed their reasoning is. Is it ignorance or arrogance that causes them to think they are the first humans to live in a time when bad things are happening on the earth? Mt Everest used to be under the ocean; our planet is "alive" people, and we should be kinder to it - all of us! ~sigh~

Valis - Great pics. When I saw how many photos there were, I just held down my "page down" button and got a real nice little video. You know, like the old flip cards thingee. Looks like you catch a bunch of fish, or two, and take a long river ride, to a McDonalds where you had your trout made into FILET o FISH. Is that about right??
