Well then go ahead and talk to the guy, tell him to sign-up on JWD and educate himself about jehovah's witnesses.

The story of my life (part 4- Bethel, the setting)
by onacruse inso, that spring night (i'm pretty sure it was 1971--memory fades a bit) i'm laying on an army cot in temporary housing, staring at the ceiling--my first night at bethel, and the beginning of the rest of my life as a bethelite (or so i had always thought).
true enough, i'd signed a solemn oath before jehovah, and submitted it to the governing body, that i would stay at bethel for at least 4 years (that was the way they did it then)...but the real expectation (and knorr made no bones about this in his public admonitions to bethelites) was that you were there for life--fine by me.. what more could i ask?
i was in the "control center" of the organization, surrounded by dozens and dozens and dozens of the anointed, and walking past members of the governing body every day...i could just feel their presence as they approached; it was almost palpable, as the holy spirit oozed from them.

Thank You!
by TD ini was going to post a personal note under the subject, "my daughter is reading jwd" but i decided to just say, "thanks" instead.
it can be confusing for a teen-aged child when one parent is a jw and the other is not, even in a house like mine, where both parents recognize that it would be grossly unfair to "pull" in both directions at once, forcing her to please one parent at the expense of the other.
jwd, with its huge cross-section of people and experience has been and continues to be valuable in helping her to make up her own mind.

Maybe they're trying to rebuild that "sense of urgency" that seems to be lacking since they no longer have a date to live by.And just like Blondie said, this will be ignored by 95% of teenagers and next year it will be a new talk to attempt to motivate the younger ones.

In our hall they avoided that one because the PO was grossly overweight. He couldn't make through a 2 hour meeting without going downstairs and having something to eat.But he wasn't a glutton...?

What silly rules did your congregation make up?
by weinermcgee inelders were famous for making up stupid rules with no bible base at all as an ego trip i guess, what were some of yours?
i am not talking about the stupid rules that we all had to follow, just the congregation specific silly ones.. 1. having to button your jacket while on stage (this was later changed due to all the elders having a beer gut).
2. suits only or no privledges.

At one point our PO decided that to be "exemplary" and have privileges you had to have 10 hours of field service every month. He didn't quite word it that way but all those of us who weren't getting 10 hours all lost the few "privileges" we had and since there wasn't enough brothers to go around the privilege merry-go-round,they started giving privileges to sisters(literature counter and book-study reading). It didn't go over too well and just served to expose the hypocrisy of the local elders.

My DA letter....
by Lilycurly inokay, i finally wrote.

Great letter,I love it.I just have a thought to share about the "new light" comment in your letter. The watchtower has on many occasions taken "erroneous or false teachings and turned them into advancing truth".Now,does that make any sense? How can a lie become "truth"? You are either teaching the truth or you are not.
Btw,I'm french also, used to attend a french book study and go to some assemblies in Quebec.
