  so a friend told me something recently that just blew my mind.

  she was interrogated by some elders regarding her choice of underwear.

  she was being questionned regarding her conduct with a man and apparently her choice of undergarments reflected the level of intent in her actions.

  I've heard so many of these stories it just makes me sick that so many people are fooled into believing these men are put in place by the holy spirit to look after people's spiritual needs.

  Imagine you're a sexually repressed elder and you're going to have an intimidating discussion with a young,very attractive sister in her 20's about her sexual life.Mmmmm....that's a turn-on right there,I don't care who you are.Then you can ask her sexually explicit questions and she has to answer them truthfully.WOW,now,I'm really turned on!! So you just keep it up till you find out if this girl can have an orgasm....ooooohhhh,the fantasies in my head,I hope my elderette wife loves me tonight cause I'm in the mood now.

  No woman should have to put up with that kind of abuse and shame.You either sinned or didn't and your conscience has to live with it,it's not a handful of horny elders who have some kind of divine right to pass judgement on you.

  repeatedly people say they find it far more interesting.. i know i feel this way too.

  i hated studying wt material.

  Very well said Lady Lee.I'm the same now too,I have a pile of research in my desk for reference.The blood issue was one thing I absolutely didn't understand as a jw;I didn't even try to look it up or try to understand it.Now I have a real interest in it and I see how foolish their reasoning is on many blood issues.

  I too,am an avid reader but the wt material used to make me go brain dead and I sometimes wondered what happened to my joy of reading.How true the words of king Solomon:"To the making of many (WT )books there is no end,and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh."

  Way to go Wolfgirl! I get very frustrated when they just try to deny serious wrongdoings(child abuse,UN) like it's all taken care of and they did nothing wrong.I'd love to go to another town and have a jw who doesn't know me try to pull their good-religion cheese on me.

  we had a family with a single mother in the congregation bringing up 4 active and naughty boys.

  (one of the boys was my best friend...).

  single mum suffered from some emotional issues and it was well known in the congregation.

  Turbulent times hard to deal with.

  i have to go to the district assembly or convention or whatever its called this weekend.

  it's just crippling to my naturally good mood to think about the multiple hours of bullcrap i will have to endure.

  do you guys have any tips or experiences to help me pass the boredom without getting into too much trouble?

  Oh My Cawed! $29,000+

  ok. i "won" a "fully favorable" social security disability claim on august 29, 2005. from there it takes 2 - 6 months to receive a letter outlining just how much i will receive in back pay and in monthly.. today i got an envelope with $29,794.00.

  no letter, no nothing!.

  I've also had the problem of reading some wts material and then not remembering what I just read.Especially the Awake,just so boring.And the WT main article,no matter what it was,always had the same ending;the kingdom was going to fix it all.Grab a bound volume and check it out.Eventually I just stopped reading them.

  I do a lot of reading now and I find it's good for the mind to read,but reading only wts material can really crush your desire for reading.It's just too repetitive and you know that what you're reading today could be all changed within a few years.I guess that's where the old saying "...if you don't read all your magazines you'll fall behind..." comes from.

  i had posted a few times since my awakening asking how best to talk to my wife about my new take on things.

  i was very afraid of handilng it poorly and chasing her deeper into the organization.

  instead, she basically said, 'i've been feeling the same way!

  hello this is my first time on this web site.i am an inactive jw.

  married to a jw.didnt believe in there teachings for many years.. looked and read at your site for along time.

  its one of the best.iam not very good at typing or spelling.and cyber communication.. hard to have a marriage when one believes and the other one doesnt.we were both raised jws .but i changed and she didnt.. common story.too years to learn to think for myself.

  Welcome to the board!I'm in the same boat as you with my wife.I no longer want to be a part of this religion but she wishes to remain in denial and call herself a jw.Anyways,hang in there,this board has been very helpful to me,I'm sure you'll enjoy it too.
