Help me come up with some Elder comeback lines...
by jgnat infor the moment at least, my muse has been revived, and i'm wrapping up my book for "unbelieving mates".
i had started to compose a list of common jw excuses and manipulative questions, and their retorts.
it is not finished.

Did you get this information on the internet?
The issue is not where I got my information but why the WTS thaught this as truth for X number of years and then changed it completely.
Wait on Jehovah...-Prov 2:3-5,Matt. 7:7-8, If I'm always supposed to wait on Jehovah I could have stayed in the Catholic/Baptist/United church

He must be the jw that put up those websites-the truth about the truth about the truth and that 2001 translation. It's all designed to mislead active jw's who are looking on the internet.

For those not sick to death of talking about this...607 BCE
by Swamboozled injust got this link sent to me by my sister in law and i just keeping staring at it trying to decide where to start.
i know that arguing with a jw is like throwing miracle wheat in the wind...but i want a comeback!!!

All I was proving was that the 70 years ended in 539 bce and not in 537 bce like you jw apologists in watchtower denial want to believe. We all know that Babylon was prophesied to be a desolate waste to time indefinite. That was not the issue.
Btw,this is one of the most stupid WT doctrines I've ever seen.If it was so simple, the WTS would have explained it a long time ago but even they can't do it because they know that secular history doesn't agree with WT doctrine.

My wife thought these articles were just great. Then I told her that for some reason the jw who wrote omitted Jeremiah 25:12-"And it must occur that when seventy years have been fulfilled I shall call to account against the king of Babylon,is the utterance of Jehovah..."
When did Jehovah call the king of Babylon to account: 539 bce
Count back 70 years now like you do with 537: 609 bce
Now it's possible the 70 years of servitude began in 609 bce, there is still no concrete proof that the temple was destroyed in 607 bce.
End of argument.

September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book
by dozy ini can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.
i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.
p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

I'm just hoping that so many changes causes red flags to go up for some jw's.One or two changes might be tolerable but 70!!!!! Come on,you mean they studied this book 3 times and it was full of untruths???
Some people have to wonder if this book will be revised again in 18 years with another bunch of changes.I can just imagine how many people will attend the book studies and not really be into it because they're afraid if they try hard it will all be for nothing because the society might change the truth again down the road.
This should be interesting...

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

Jambon,
I'm expecting the same reaction from my wife when she reads it.Also like you I waited years to tell her my true feelings about the WTS.And yes,I am much happier now.The only sadness I feel is for family members who were once normal and now act like pharisees and to see that my wife wants to remain part of the WTS even though she doesn't believe or understand most of their beliefs.

I threw out my AC/DC Live Greatest Hits album and a Dokken album.
I still think about that sometimes and how stupid that was.I guess I could go out and buy them back.

Would you go back if...
by 24k inwhat if the watchtower announced that they are not god's sole channel of spiritual truth?
along with this admission, would come an apology for all of the misleading and damaging predictions and past teachings.
what if they also dumped the disfellowshipping arrangement, as currently practiced, and allowed for respectful disagreement and disent, on issues such as blood transfusions and military service?
-
Goldminer
No,I wouldn't go back. They would look at those who returned like they were weak christians who just came back when it got easy. The mentality will never change and no matter what they change they are not God's chosen channel of communication.

I'm also 10 and 10.
I had to be fully convinced to live the life of a jw on a daily basis. When I was no longer convinced the scales started shifting. Now I no longer have any doubts that it's not the truth.
