In this instance who applied the following?
LOVE is an identifying mark of true Christianity. “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves,” said Jesus Christ. (John 13:35)
Another is the love that grows between family members. (Romans 12:10)
*** Rbi8 Romans 12:10 ***
10 In brotherly love have tender affection for one another. In showing honor to one another take the lead
*** w93 10/15 p. 18 Love (Agape)—What It Is Not and What It Is ***
3 Yes, among the things that differentiate the pure worship of Jehovah God from all other forms of worship is its emphasis on this kind of love. Rightly did Jesus Christ state the two greatest commandments: “The first is, . . . ‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’ The second is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31) The apostle Paul put the same emphasis on love in chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians. After stressing that love was the premier indispensable quality, he concluded by saying: “Now, however, there remain faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13) Jesus rightly said that love would be the identifying mark of his followers.—John 13:35.
Let’s see who applied the above: We also started a renovation on her property at no charge to her. No one in the congregation would help her, she said. The large back yard was so overgrown in the subtropical climate that the six foot tall back fence could not be seen. We cleared the entire lot of the tall grass, overgrowth, limbs, a large bees nest and debris. Then we started on the house interior, painting and redecorating all the rooms, installing new molding on the walls, repairing porch screens, laying a carpet, repairing the roof, etc.
*** w93 10/15 p. 19 Love (Agape)—What It Is Not and What It Is ***
9 Paul further says that love “does not behave indecently.” The dictionary defines “indecent” as “grossly unseemly or offensive to manners or morals.” One who behaves indecently (unlovingly) disregards others’ feelings. Many Bible versions translate the Greek as “rude.” Such a one flouts what is considered proper and in good taste. Certainly, loving consideration for others would mean avoiding all things that are rude or indecent, things that offend and may even shock.
*** w93 10/15 p. 20 Love (Agape)—What It Is Not and What It Is ***
Other Things Love Is Not
10 Next we are told that love “does not look for its own interests,” that is, when there is a question of our personal interests and those of others. The apostle states elsewhere: “No man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it.” (Ephesians 5:29) When, though, our interests compete with another’s interests and no other Bible principles are involved, we should do as Abraham did with Lot, lovingly let the other person have the preference.—Genesis 13:8-11.
Who applied the above? Would that be the current Jehovah’s Witnesses: My older sister came out with a large smile: "What would you like to buy?" My younger 45 year old sister said: "You came too late! This is all legally ours now!"
It never ceased to amaze me how some JW’s would justify “ripping” off worldly or ex JW relatives and think nothing of it. Not many would do it, but every once and a while there were some that would do it. The congregation Elders really don’t like to get involved in that type of thing. They would rather it be taken to court.
It is so unfortunate that this happened to both of you. It just makes it such a hurtful thing for family to do something like this, and then on top of it all from someone that claims to lovingly “serve the true God Jehovah.” -

What kind of prophets are JWs?
by jaffacake inawake 1986
would that all were prophets!
you will be interested to learn that god has on earth a people, all of whom are prophets, or witnesses for god.

jaffacake you are right, they have flat out predicted the future in the past.
The Society always seems to come up with an explanation that will placate the faithful. They are always easy to see through and seem almost childish in a way; but, they seem to do the job for which they were intended for.

The entire quote was as follows:
AWAKE 1986 JUNE/8 p. 9 “Would That All Were Prophets!”
The New American Bible correctly states: “Prophet means ‘one who speaks for another,’ especially for God. It does not necessarily mean that he predicts the future!” Pope John Paul II said: “The ‘prophetic office’ of the People of God must be consciously exercised as a true service of the Word.” But as we have seen, it is impossible for a Catholic to be a true prophet, or witness, for God’s Word, the Bible, without betraying the doctrine of the Catholic Church, based mainly on tradition.
In its final declaration, the World Catholic Federation for the Biblical Apostolate expressed the need for Bible education, particularly among the young and the poor, for inexpensive Bibles and Bible education literature, for Bible translations and Bible translators, and for full-time workers. It further stated that all Christians should preach and teach, live by the Bible, and “discern the signs of the times.”
You will be interested to learn that God has on earth a people, all of whom are prophets, or witnesses for God. In fact, they are known throughout the world as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Out of love for God and his Word, they are carrying on a universal Bible educational work among old and young, rich and poor. They have hundreds of thousands of full-time voluntary workers, some of whom translate and print Bibles and Bible educational literature that is distributed inexpensively, or even free of charge. They are assisted by millions of part-time workers. Any of these will be happy to help you “discern the signs of the times” and embrace the wonderful hope contained in God’s Word, the Bible.
jaffacake stated:
But be careful, in the Bible has any True Prophet ever made a mistake, or have any of their prophecies failed, or any predictions not come true? Just ONE failed prediction would prove a prophet false. There are only two kinds of prophet in the Bible, True or False. And how to tell the difference?
(Deuteronomy 18:20-22) 20 "‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: "How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?" 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. . .
What jaffacake said is very true, however, JW‘s will point to the part of the article that says “The New American Bible correctly states: “Prophet means ‘one who speaks for another,’ especially for God. It does not necessarily mean that he predicts the future!”” and JW’s will use this as the escape to claim they are not false prophets.
The Society is getting very good at having an escape route in their recent writings. I find this explanation for failed Society prophecies ridiculous; however, a good JW will find this to be a reasonable excuse for past “failed expectations”.
By the way. It’s funny how the Society will point to one part of something, like the quote of Pope John Paul II above, as an authority to support one point and then in the same paragraph state that the same authority is false and knows nothing about Gods word.

Experience being 'out of the loop' of helpful information in the cong.
by out of the box ina post in this thread by dorayakii in this thread: .
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/95493/1.ashx made me think about this thread.to me, even from the outside, the society has always seemed legalistic and cold, eager to find faults, which is precisely the opposite to how jesus formed christianity.
however, many people don't see that perspective, because they are not in a position of imtimacy with the leaders of the organisation.

The main thing that drove me out, after years as an elder, was the consistent cover up of anything embarrassing “TO THE SOCIETY.”
As long as there was nothing that could be considered as reflecting back on the Society, it was “make it public as an example” (as in public reproof or disfellowship). However, if it reflected on the Society or involved the Society - cover-up and intimidate those that dared to open their mouths, and if you as an elder didn’t go along with the cover-up … well, you just were a renegade like Korah in Moses day.

Do you think the Watchtower makes up experiences by people ???
by run dont walk inin the may 1, 1988 watchtower, on page 22, a witness, matsue ishii, recalls her first encounter with the bible students in 1928: at the back of our house in tojo-cho, osaka, there was a house with a sign: "osaka branch of the international bible students association.
" assuming it to be a christian group, i visited the house.
"do you believe in the second advent of the lord?

I have personal knowledge of four experiences that were given at conventions. Two were out and out lies, one was two experiences (that did not have good results) combined and presented as a good outcome, and another that was supposed to happen after the convention and never did, yet it was given as though it had already taken place and had great results.
Every time I heard, or read, an experience I never fully believed it.

I know this experience to be absolutely true since I heard of it happening at least twice before with other releases in the last thirty years or so. The experience was almost word for word, therefore, it had to be an actual experience and the truth.
As further proof, Jehovah’s Witnesses NEVER tell a lie or EXPAND on the truth, therefore, this experience once again stands as a testament to the truthfulness of the brothers and sisters. ;) The world calls this circular reasoning, but within the “Truth” this is reasonable validation of an experience. (Oh man . . . I hope I didn’t confuse my self just now, much less anyone else).
Conclusion … is this experience true? Uhhh … sure … why not.

The death of these people was so tragic. No more and no less than anyone else in the world that lost a family member in a traffic accident, for whatever reason that particular person was traveling.
My feelings go out to the families in their time of loss – been there done that.
It brings back memories of total helplessness for the ability to comfort the parents of a relative and disgust for some of the comments I heard from some of the “friends” because the deceased person was recently disfellowshipped – heartless bastards (if I had it to do over, I would spit in their falsely-pious faces… every one of them conveniently forgot that a persons death is the ultimate payment of sin and Christ death was a covering for everyone – not just the pharisaical Governing Body and other select few).
