The social club of JW

here in the west/central/north part of europe jw have facing general declining in bout number of publishers and baptises during the last 10 years or so.

a lot of congregations are down to 40-50 persons (with 100-150 sitting places) and the publics service are without any kind of result.

If someone gets a bible study with someone new this person is close to brain-dead. When a bible study is started with a normal person with just average abilities of thinking this study will soon stop. The person will reject the JW doctrines and claim of a sole role as true Christians after 2-3 month. That’s my experience.

In normal the JWs start as children of JW parents so the life is planned from the beginning. It’s not a question of making some kind of decisions - only follow the normal and expected rote.

So most JW a facing a non-result effect of the preaching works and times go on and still no end as promised so many times. We stop thinking of the reason of this. Just like the lemmings we went on to the cliff edge. Most have stop thinking long ago. But life has to be filed with something. Maybe just to forget and prove that we are together. There are ”we” and ”they”. So we stick to each other and look at others with a little bit of anger and mistrust. Building enemy pictures are what make identities and prove we are the chosen ones.

This kind of “stick together” became the social life and identity of many. The social life is the light way of living and small talks. The purpose of being a Christians are long time gone. A lot of JW are filling the life with this “party line” to full fill the lost of real meaning of Christianity.

So I expect that the “party line” will grown and many JW stick to the BORG only by social reasons not religious. JW will by that be able to survive religions crises and scandals. That’s why an UN case doesn’t move anything in general. People have no other place to go and don’t want either. They want to stay with the social JW club. The religious aspect will play a smaller role in the future.

Our family had the pleasure to have a visit of a pioneer sister – very dear to us. She uses to study with our 2 children. In the past the article of WT or the subject of the book study. I demand a change of that to some Bible discussions and reading instead with a lot more outcome to my children. I - still serving as elder - get her normal respect of “my role” and “leadership”. So she listens when I speak. Some times during dinner – because she normally stays for that – we begin to discuss some JW matters. I normally don’t say much. My thoughts are my own and I don’t want to be a reason of conflict in her mind. But sometimes I’m not just able to keep my mouth shout.

This night was one of those moments. She begins to show some kind of “self thinking” - even very young. This means she thinks of justice and basis human behaviour.

During the dinner the discussions came to some Bible verses and the 237 uses of the Tetragrammaton JHVH in the New Testament and others things about the NWT of the Bible. Finally we came to the conclusion that a translation of the Bible must be free of any personal or religious touch and must be true to the original text. We didn’t say that direct but the thoughts of all were that the NWT didn’t fulfil that basis demand.

I propose her to go to the congregation to get the Diaglott, The Kingdom Interlinear and other Bible translation and read for her self. IT’S NICE TO BE A LITTLE “EVEL” SOMETIMES”

She begins to think. That’s the start of understanding.

Do you fear to die or refuse to think of that matter. During times the fear of dear is the deep source of the talk about Armageddon and the eschatology. To face to die is a hard one to swallow. We do need the hope that the end really isn’t the ultimate end at all. So an end of the world must have inside a hope of something new and better.

Most of us thinking about the end of our personal life and existing refuse to accept that. We create a hope that the dead must be a beginning of something new. Life will continue and we wish to never stop thinking and being living and existing.

Maybe that’s a main reason of religions like Jehovah’s Witnesses and others like them. Giving a hope of an end that isn’t and ends after all.

Are that fear a part of you and does it influence your way of living and thinking. Or do you feel the freedom of that?

Cyril Lykkebo Malka

a guy named cyril lykkebo malka, who made a lot of trouble with the danish support group for ex-jws, is making trouble for every ex-jw website who carries material printed by the danish christian newspaper "kristelig dagblad".. malka, it seems, seeks up these sites, and the journalist sends threats to the webowners about removing the material.. on malka's own website, http://www.malka.dk you will find that this joker steals material as anybody else, and he's been stealing lots of material from the watchtower observer, like documents from the hlc, pay attention, and other material.. he never tells anyone where he got the material, but he does write some interesting stuff:.

he publishes material printed in african newspapers (translated), and tells his readers kristelig dagblad has printed this story "slightly changed"!.

I know a little of his writings in Denmark. I will come back later with some information to you. I don’t know him personal only his writing and some seams very interesting about how JW thinks and reacts.

Chapter 9 § 29 says. Jehovah’s servants of today are not in union with religious organisations and do not put confidence in political organisations.

A lot of comments from the brothers and sisters said that we can’t serve two masters and must stay clean of this world. So “we” are the clean ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for you post. As elder still here in the north of Europe I have similar experience. The battle between the moderators and the organisation men are going on in many bodies of local elders.

We get one of those really “loyal" men in our congregations about 5 years ago. He has a great background as a loyal man to the BORG and served very high in “Jehovah’s visible organisation”. A pure brainwashed man - not stupid - but unable to see his own evil acts towards the little ones in the congregations. Our PO looks at him as his mentor so we have a lot of battles.

Another time I will tell more but I share your experience. It’s a challenge to the conscience.

I think the South of Europe is a lot more conservative than the Northern part - where I live. It’s mainly down to the cultural fact that the northern part of Europe is dominant by the protestant way of thinking. The south is catholic and dominates of more conservatism but that will change in the near future.

That's also the reason why the north Europe (maybe excepts UK) is more anti-authority than others. We don’t like authorities telling us what to do and think.

European JW versus USA JW

This board is very dominant by experience from US about the JW lives. We are only a few from others parts of the world participate. I live in northern part of Europe. Sometimes reading your experience from USA I appreciate not living there. Don’t misunderstand that opinion. I think USA as a country is great, but the USA JW community isn’t so.

I think the freedom in Europe is higher and more tolerant. We have our problems as well and the whole structure of power and anything about the chronology and the GB is of course the same. But daily lives in the congregation seams to be another world.

Let me give you some examples: We have women wearing pants at the meetings and in public preaching works and no one cares. We have elder doing mounting climbing and participate in sport competitions. We have a lot of young people taking university educations – all very normal.
We have elder going on 3-month holydays away from the congregations and continue to be elder when he comes back. I could mention more.

What’s your experience? Are the above mention examples acceptable in USA? Do others from Europe or other area of the world outside USA have similar experience?

the big story on this board is unquestionable the scandal about jw in bed with un since 1991. but only a few take notice outside this board.

The big story on this board is unquestionable the scandal about JW in bed with UN since 1991. But only a few take notice outside this board. It really doesn’t have the attention of the press in general and never will. With this boards eyes, it’s really a BIG STORY but looking at it with public eyes it’s nothing.

Try to face it logical. Only a few on this board look at UN as the Beast in the Revelation. To use that comparison is plain stupid and nonsense. It’s typical for the “prophet” in Brooklyn. For me and other UN does a lot of good thing for the world and I personal support that and look at UN as an authority we as Christians must respect according to Romans 13:1.

So personal I don’t see anything wrong with supporting some at the UN activities. I think that’s the reason why this “big story” isn’t a big story in public. In the public UN is “a good guy” so if some support them it’s positive - not negative.

As an inside JW view the case is big. It tells a lot about the Borg following it’s own sometimes hidden and secret rules and demand something very different and more of it’s followers. But that’s often seen in close “sects” communities.

So this big story isn’t going to harm the JW in public - only inside. The facts is that only a very few know anything about it and the Borg will succeed in telling the story about “we didn’t know” or it was only a “library card” to the very few asking. The mechanism that JW never talks negative about the BORG will play its role and only in a very few “dark and private” rooms it will play a role.

That’s just my opinion and judgement about the final outcome of this “BIG STORY”. If you have other opinion (maybe more optimism) tell why and state the reason for this view.
