GOODLUCK! I'm sure you're going to do just fine, after all I hadn't talked to my mother at all about your book and yesterday while I was on the phone with her she said she had heard of this book (Father's Touch) and was going to buy it--right out of the blue. All the best to you.

"Lord, did we not prophecy in your name"
by fairy in.
my husband and i were talking about how if you stop going to the meetings and then the end comes that they tell you that it would be those ones that would say "lord did we not prophecy in your name etc etc"....... well, he suggested that it would also apply to those who were going to the meetings and maybe sinning a little on the side........so when the end comes, maybe it is those ones that will say "lord did we not prophecy in your name"

Narkissos you've given me something else to think about--the Bible mentions the two rampaging son's after the Dinah incident but I don't see where Dinah's ever mentioned after her brother's take her from the man's house... Shotgun- I'm going to have to look up this book from Alexander Hislop....is it very good?

No Hubert, I'll be the one to kill this thread. V-I wouldn't take it personally at all. I posted a topic the other day and only got one response (out of pity I'm sure). I just figure a lot of people don't know what Boone's wine is....Anyway, I looked at your topic posts and it looks like you've done alright.

Who are these people?
by Soledad inas i was walking home today (about 7pm) i passed in front of madison square garden.
there, a little boy, about 7-8 years old, hands me some literature.
the literature is eerily similar to a watchtower, but i knew that the people handing them out were not jws.

MY CELIBACY VOW AND OTHER QUESTIONS!
by tresbella in)o.k so last night i made a vow of celibacy to god.
an official promise in prayer to not fornicate so that maybe i too can have a special wedding night.
(my boyfriend was surprisingly supportive) i remember reading a scripture that says a promise made to god should be taken very serious.

Tresbella- The last post I wrote was in response to your second post. And there were only 2 others beside me before you responded again about people "hating" for your vow. I don't think any of the three responses were hating at all. I didn't bring up your vow in my post because I could care less if you decide to be celibate or not...it's a personal issue and none of my business. But I just want to make it clear that for my own post and from what I read in Czar's and Narkissos' post--they weren't judgemental.

Tresbella- I understand what you're saying in your last post. You're in a hard situation and you feel like you have to go through the motions until you're ready to go off on your own. But like Narkissos said in his post you should take some time to figure out what's best for you. What I'm saying is if you have to put up a front for now then do it but if you're heart isn't in it then you might want to try to somehow appease the people around you without getting enveloped in it. The further you get into it the harder it is to get out. As far as being young and not being able to get up and leave without risks being involved--I completely know where you're at. I think some people either forget what it was like having your whole life dictated and planned out. The transition into adulthood is always difficult but I would multiply that difficulty by 10 for JWs. The only clear suggetion I can come up with about this is, since you're in school you might be able to find a 5-10 hour a week job on the campus...if you haven't done this already. It may not help out greatly with financial independance but it'll start you in that direction. Look into all the possibilities (job, internship, volunteering) of building up job experience. And remember that when you finally leave your parents home, it's supposed to be a little scarey.

Scully- Thanks for the insight. I have had some problems with this story and what you bring up about "property" is one of them. Narkissos- The interpretations of the word makes a lot more sense to me now. Thanks for breaking it down and putting it into context. Princess and Cicatrix- Thank you for the book recommendation. DaCheech- I have to go with Princess on not having any back-up for your first statement. The second statement kind of confused me... Shotgun- You're a funny, funny person. You too Link--I don't mind hearing some samurai jokes every once in a while.

Okay...Boone's or Mad Dog?
by under74 incheap wine isn't my favorite but my first experience with drinking was with boone's farm wine (and i have special feelings toward it) and i have been seen with 20/20 aka mad dog.
anyway after that wild turkey/jim beam question i started thinking about the cheap wines i've drank.
do they have these brands outside the us?

Wow, I must be the only one that's drank this stuff. That's cool, more for me.
