I remember a lot of stories about smurfs, E.T., and Ouija boards. I also remember one story about a couple who's child was having nightmares every night until one day they decided to strip the wallpaper in the childs room...it had somekind of paisley design on it. Anyway, as they took the wallpaper off a demon came out. There is another one I remember about a witness family having things happen in their home like the whole house shaking suddenly and hearing voices. So they had an elder come to their house and he looked for whatever he thought was the source of the demons and found that in the back of a wood bookcase there was a "demonic" carving that the family had never seen.

Demons and feathers
by Narkissos inbrummie's thread about "unwritten prophecies" made me think more broadly about unwritten stuff among jws.
this one is not a prophecy, sounds more like a "urban legend".. there were stories circulating among french jws in the 70's about people suffering of some unexplained illness, until strange demonic "artworks" were discovered in the feathers of their pillows.
some were almost dying as the "work" was almost completed.

Student Refuses To Stand For Pledge
by Stephanus inhttp://www.madison.com/archives/read.php?ref=wsj:2004:09:10:385822:front "she said it was against her religion to say the pledge.
i said, that's fine.
' i told her that basically, we stand anyway as a way to honor our nation.

Hmmm...yeah, I was always told to say I was JW and usually give my teacher that pamphlet on why JWs don't pledge (don't remember what it was called). The more singled out and persucuted the better, right? But I was always told it was okay to stand, just couldn't say the words with my hand over my heart. I don't know whether it's a sign as to the organization losing it's grip though. I mean it could be but given the climate in the U.S. over the past 4 years some people might be apprehensive about mentioning they're JW in regards to what might be seen as un-patriotic. I went to school with some kids that were black muslim none of them saluted the flag either....maybe she's muslim?

JWs mentioned on Air America
by jws injust heard randi rhodes on air america radio mentioning jws.
she said:jehovah's witnesses are like the wildest people in the world because they always want to add more jehovah's witnesses.
but only 144,000 will actually go to heaven according to their doctrine.

I hadn't quite looked at "the great crowd" as a slave clean up crew-kind of makes sense. when I was 8 I remember thinking of lies or excuses to give after Armegeddon to get out of cleaning up the dead and being really angry I wasn't annointed.

Witnesses are buying my book!
by morrisamb ini had to deliver my book to a couple who are witnesses (they asked my witness mother for me to drop it off) who i haven't seen in 25 years this past monday.
they are in my book and they were very good to me when i was a kid.
it's a miracle they wanted me to come visit them (they live in a nursing home).

Wow, I didn't know you were on the board...I'm new to it though. I e-mailed you last week--and I meant what I said, you're very brave for telling your story. It's a good sign that some Witnesses are buying your book, I wish you all the best.

Would the Watchtower approve of this? The latest Prince video
by DevonMcBride inhttp://www.sky.com/showbiz/article/0,,50001-1155335,00.html
prince's arab-american tale purple one gets political
jehovah's witness prince has stunned the pop world by using a suicide bombing to end his new music video.

I saw that video. I didn't think it was shocking. The ending is left a little more open than what's described in the article...you don't really know if she blew the place up. I'm only surprised there wasn't some Witnesses at the end handing the girl a Watchtower.

Post Some Flowers Here, Please?
by Frannie Banannie inmany of yall have seen the "someone special needs cheering up" thread >> http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/79297/1.ashx.
there've been some really thoughtful responses, such kind and considerate wishes for kristy.
even so, i realize how difficult it may be at times to find the words to convey well wishes for someone who's suffering and striving so hard to overcome extreme circumstances.. .
