Do you think their fries are really that good?
by Bumble Bee inman goes berserk at pennsylvania burger king that ran out of french fries
dubois, pa. (ap) - a burger king customer berated the employees and nearly hit one of them with his truck after the clerk at the drive-thru window told him they were out of french fries, police said.. .
gregg luttman, 22, made an obscene gesture at the drive-thru clerk on new year's day, then walked into the restaurant and cursed at the staff, said sgt.

Dick's in Seattle. They give you the fries in a paper bag and within a minute that bag is transparent because of the grease. It looks so nasty, yet it's sooo tasty.
...is there an "e" in tasty? tastey doesn't look right....BACK TO THE POINT
Dick's is the best!

tough one...I can't say strongly enough DON'T CONVERT. You need to realize as well that if she doesn't break up with you, you're likey headed for a lot more trouble involving those elders if your relationship gets more serious.
....sorry it's not all sunshine.

Positive Islamic Thread
by eyeslice inthere has been a bit of stick about the negative comments about islam on this board, so i thought i would start a positive thread.. towards the end of the 90s, i lived for a year in an asian country with a population of over 100 million muslims.
all muslims i came across were honest, decent people.. a couple of years back, i went to work in iran for a couple of weeks.
as a result i had a couple days off at the weekend, which also happened to coincide with a public holiday.

Carmel- Don't you think you're generalizing a bit about the muslims in Israel? I'm sure they aren't all rich, right? While people of your faith might be mistreated in Iran, it doesn't mean people of the Islamic faith should be mistreated, right?
Narkissos-Thanks for the article.
B. G. - Good point about the Shari'a but I have to agree with Narkissos in that it's culture not religion that imposes mutilation. The Shari'a is also interpreted in many different ways for the countries, tribes, or groups that follow it. Also many countries can be called Islamic because they have a majority of Muslims there, this doesn't mean that they follow Shari'a law or follow it to the "T"

I saw it.....I found it kind of confusing because there was no build up of characters. My nephew says it only covered 3 books out of 11. Maybe that has something to do with it not making sense?....no, it made some sense- it's more like the way the movie was done didn't make me care.
Just my opinion

Again- not all Islamic people have cultural hang-ups about women.
And again- don't judge lest you be judged--as in we have problems of our own.
"Unfortunately it didn't last and the last 200 years especially has seen them degress right back to the Stone Age, just like Christianity did. The incredibly brutal treatment of women that is sanctioned officially by Islam, is repulsive and disgusting. Until Islam decides to join the 21st century, they're going to continue to be left behind."
I'm unaware that there is an official sanction by the Islamic faith (there are many sects and forms of Islam) Where is this stated in this great big book of official Islam rules?
You might want to back this up with facts.

W.T. will use Tsunami disaster to "prove" end is coming soon.
by hubert ini believe that the watchtower society will use the tsunami disaster to "pump up" the fear factor for armaghedon coming soon.
what better way to keep the flock moving in a positive direction?
they know book sales are down, and so is recruitment.

yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see them use this either. They use anything from natural disaster to man made disaster to the possibility of peace as a sign for the end.

It Just Occured To Me...
by prophecor inthat from the very begining, the society starts its indoctrination and seperating you from your regular life and family from day one.
i remember how newly interested ones were strongly encouraged to profess to their churches leaders and others that they no longer are members, to point of having their names removed from memberships.
also the warnings that we may receive heckling from friends and relatives if we continued to study, and how we should come to expect that as being normal.

Very true. It's like the Society sets people up for ridicule and while all along saying "you're going to be persucuted." So it reinforces what they say when it happens.
I grew up in it and my take was that they always made people on the outside (DFd, DAd, fades, or people that knew the "truth" but didn't join JWs) seem like they were wandering alone in the world and that if you knew what was good for you, you wouldn't question anything....because afterall, who wants to wander alone in the world?
