When I was around 8 I was going door to door with this pioneer lady and an old woman started screaming at us and threw a dead garden snake that hit the pioneer lady woman square in the head. We went back to the car and waited for the others doing the block. This pioneer was kind of stunned I can remember and she kept telling me the lady that threw the snake was an apostate.

I NEED SOME FEEDBACK!
by snakeizz inyou guys i need help...please bear with as this is a rather long post...i had to give you guys the history of this....there still might be things i'm leaving out, but i'll explain in the future..... my sister wants me to help her plan my parent's wedding anniversary party.
they never celebrated it in the past because my dad is an idiot.
my wife and i declined to assist because of the way they have treated us in the past and because of the preferential treatment given to my sister and my fathers 7 other children.

I guess I wouldn't feel guilty...but then again I know how family can make you feel that way even if you shouldn't.
Now this is just my opinion but maybe some time and space (e.g. not be part of the planning stages of family events) might help two things: 1. you, to truly live your own life without the constant guilt trips looming over your head. 2. Perhaps your family might start to see you for the adult (one that doesn't let petty jealousy and unwarranted guilt get to you) you are and come to terms with it.
Just my opinion. Hope everything works out.

Do you tell your friends your were a JW?
by eljefe inlast night i was out with my friends and i ran into another ex-jw.
based on the conversation with this ex-jw, my friends could tell that i was hiding something.
i think i will have to tell my friends that i was a jw.

It's hard sometimes...I haven't told all my friends but it's been easier to talk about it lately. I don't think any of my friends (some of which are very close and dear to me) could ever really understand it all but those that I've told try.

Cabbage Patch Dolls?
by KKLUV155 inlooking at the smurf thread i was wondering, in my congregation in the 80's there were also storys of demonic cabbage patch dolls attacking jw kids.
i wasn't allowed to have one because they might be demonized.
was it just my cong.

YES. In the KH (Seattle) I went to as a kid there was a rumor about cabbage patch dolls...but it wasn't taken as serious as the ones about demonic smurfs or E.T. dolls.
See...you weren't imagining it.

If I were to visit your town for the first time..
by doodle-v inwhat food places would you reccomend?
if im in a new town, i like going to eat at places that locals go to that most like likely are not in all the tourists guides, if possible.
if you were to come to my town, i'd probably take you to eat at dick's drive in (best burgers imo) and if you were in the mood for something fancy, maybe el gauchos (best steakhouse imo) and terrific atmosphere... how bout you?

In San Francisco I would say go to Georgio's for pizza. Great pizza.
In Seattle (hometown) go to Queen of Sheba. Best ethiopian food around.
