i found this interesting picture on a site someone here referenced today.
can you fathom being treated this way (persecuted) as apparently some christians were under the government of the roman empire?
(also, look at the ones impaled round about the arena there.

this may seem trivial to some that do not agree with the us going after the taliban by bombing afghanastan, but i had to make a comment.. i watched the news the other day and saw for the first time, women and girls in afghanastan outside, and many showing their facs and smiling.
there are a few that have been able to return to work after 5 long years.
kids are now allowed to fly kites again, and you could hear music playing.. these are things that i, and many others i am sure, have taken for granted since we are so free in this country.

I've always liked the National Geographic cover photo of the 12 year old Afghani girl with the piercing eyes. She'd be about thirty today, and I often wonder if she's still alive, and if she turned out to be as beautiful as the photo showed she had the potential to be. I wish National Geographic would go back and find her.

please tell me if i'm wrong about this.
if i'm not, i'm actually pretty shocked.... we all remember reading in the bible how israel once became rampant with sacred prostitution and the worship of phallic images.
although there is evidence that these phallic idols were widespread, it is difficult to realize just how ubiquitous they were because of the way the texts were translated.
I remember reading in a book (can't recall which one now) That the original building was a church, called bethel something or other (I think it was a baptist church) And when the WTBTS bought it, they never bothered to change the name.

chronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.
.
i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation, outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone, although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness, percentage wise it seems that jws have a much, much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties, his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?
Also I have noticed a high incidence of those who have sensitivity to chemicals such as perfumes, cleaning supplies, etc.

i love sunday.. i love tuesday night.. i love thursday night.. i love saturday morning.. i love the rest as well, it's just i've been reacquainted with these times.
Oh boy!
I hear ya sleepy. Growing up my brothers, sisters and I hated Tuesday night and especially Thursday night! First thing waking up Thursday morning it would hit me, especially if I knew I had a part on the school that night. Sundays I didn't hate quite as much for some reason, but those night meetings used to really stress me out.

what classical music do you enjoy and why?
can you please state whether in/out jw's?
Like Mozart a great deal. The Queen on the night aria is breathtaking and intense! My father in law is a great classical music buff, so he was my first intro to anything classical really.
I'm a big old time music, bluegrass fan as well! I play clawhammer banjo m'self. Love Joe Val and the new england bluegrass boys, especially when Karl Lauber was playing banjo with them. (Karl is supremely talented, and a sweetheart to boot) You out there Karl? Hope to see you here someday hon! ((hugs))

with its "library card" defense, the wts tries very hard to minimize the significance of their relationship with the un.
according to the wts, this was actually a very trivial association, analogous to obtaining a library card - something very non-political, and something most of their members will relate to (as library card holders) and view as quite innocuous.
most jws will have no difficulty dismissing this completely out of hand.. also, without actually lying about it, the wts implies that the "criteria for association" changed.
Who knew the "meat in due season" was wild beast!
LOL! Good one Trev! I'll have to remember that
Still chuckling

[h3]here is the watchtower's official explanations on the un scandal![/h3.
the letter is, naturally - on the watchtower observer as well!.
yachyd da.
I truly don't see how The Watchtower Bible And Tract Society could justify ANY association with the UN what so ever, for any purpose after all the horrible things they (the WTBTS) have said about them (the UN) through the years. They want us to believe that after 1991 they had no inkling that the terms of being a NGO associated with the DPI had changed, when there were forms that had to be filled out on a regular basis to remain an active member? How do they explain the changes in their interests listed in the NGO/DPI handbooks if they weren't keeping on top of things? Do they think we aren't aware that they have lawyers overlooking every step that they take? Do they think we're stupid?? Oh yeah, that's right. They do think that. BUT THEY ARE QUITE WRONG I'M AFRAID! This is your wake up call Watchtower. Thanks to the internet and so many diligent truth loving people such as Hawkaw, Kent, Randy, Mac and so very many others, there is no longer any way to hide behind fancy and twisted words. Our eyes are no longer clouded Watchtower and your deceit is glaringly obvious. Your ivory *tower* is coming down to the ground at long last governing body, so fasten your seat belts boys. You're in for a bumpy ride!

i was at work tonight and we were joking around and talking about old shows we used to watch while growing up.
i thought it would be fun if we wrote a line from a show and see if we could guess what show it came from.
my name is lenny, and if i ain't got it, there isn't any.
Was it Dan? See, I'm getting old...my memory is going on me! Thanks for the correction.
