Why did Death not stop as soon as the RANSOM was paid?
by jwfacts interry's recent thread about god's love made me start wondering the above question.
normally a ransom is done as a swap, the payment is made on exchange.
2000 years ago jesus made payment by dieing.

Wouldn't it have been more loving on God's part had he brought the end immediately after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE?
There would have been a core of Christians to start the new world order, they would have been primitive in there needs and more suited to starting over at that time and Jah would have had far fewer wicked to execute.
It does not matter if we would not have been born, thus no opportunity to be saved, as we would not have known it anyway.

"But what do i tell the friends?"
by zack inso three weeks ago my wife and i had an emotional discussion wherein i finally told her that this religion was not the truth.
there was much emotion, a chill has ensued in our relationship.
(i haven't been to a meeting in 4 months now, and have not reported time in two months) i am sure many of you know the drill.. towards the end of our conversation, she asks: but what do i tell the friends when they ask about you?.

Zack......My only piece of advice is to be patient and pick your battles carefully. My wife and I were both raised in the organization. We have been married 33 years and raised all three of our kids as JWs. When I first began to discover the truth about the truth I didn't know what would happen. My wife found my 'Crisis of Conscience' and 'Gentile Times' book and threw them away. She was emotionally distraught that I would even question. But I hung in there and over time was able to help her see that I had not lost my mind. Today, although none of us are DF or DA we have all moved on with our lives and are all happier for it. In fact, just recently, my son had finally had enough and is fading out. So, even though the social aspects of leaving the organization have been tough, I am finally at peace with myself and I can honestly say that I am happier and more content than ever before. In fact, my youngest daughter, she's 24, told me just a couple of days ago that very thing. The fade has taken years and is not completely over, but at least I know that things are going to be fine.

The End of Faith- How Sam Harris defined it.
by nvrgnbk inclearly, it must be possible to bring reason, spirituality, and ethics together in our thinking about the world.
this would be the beginning of a rational approach to our deepest personal concerns.
it would also be the end of faith.-.

"Isn't faith based on reason?" zack....you just put my mind in gridlock. I may have to chew on that a while. If you have faith in the existence of an omnipotent creator than it is reasonable to you. Faith can be based on reasonable expectations. Is there a difference between 'faith' and 'belief'? Our beliefs do not necessarily have anything to do with reason. I read Sam Harris's book. I doubt we will see the end of faith any time soon and I do not really think that the end of faith would be a good thing.

If they had to obtain a "conditional use" permit, it would indicate that the lot is not actually zoned for a church. I have served on planning and zoning commission in the past and a "specific use" or "conditional use" permit was needed if someone wanted to build something on a lot that was not zoned for that application. Property owners within 200 yards had to be notified of the intended use and were given the opportunity to object at a public hearing. If no one objects and the commissioners are favorable the permit will be granted. That's just my exerience in a small town in Texas. I'm not sure what the situation was here, though.
