My JW roommate and I were watching a program on cults the other night
by oppgirl63 inthey were talking about how when you are in a cult, you are not allowed to think outside their 'box'.
i didn't say anything and she says "that sounds just like the jw's doesn't it?".
i just smiled and said yes...i was thinking that very thought but wasn't going to say anything.

I did not hear them mention the JW's. I think most JWs wouldn't even think the same thing applies to them. I'm just thankful my roommate can recognize it.

I agreed and told her that she was a 'On the fence JW" and she agreed and said that's what she would continue to be. I just wonder if the powers that be will let her.

I'm from South Alabama. It is hot...flat in some places but not others. I live out in the country where it's very quiet. I think the people are extremely nice...but so are people from other places. Where I'm from, everyone has a thick southern drawl...that's what I get the most comments about. The older generations aren't as educated as mine but they had to quit school just to help support the family. My dad's family were sharecroppers. I remember riding on the cotton sack when I was a baby while they picked cotton. Sweet memories.

I'm from the south an I don't know anyone that dog fights. Yes...people do hunt for sport here but they do that all over the county...not just the south. I personally don't hunt...the older I get, the more tender hearted I've become about animals...But I do kill snakes....killed this sucker last year at the edge of my yard. He (or she) was on his last meal! See attachments (I hope they work)...hope it doesn't offend anyone.

Roommate seems to have a hard time going to the meetings
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate seems to have the hardest time making it to the sunday meetings...and that's the only one she goes to anymore.
i went to wake her this morning and she didn't want to go and asked me if i would carry her service card (or whatever it's called) to the kh for her.
i told her no...i didn't want to talk to those people.

One other thing I thought about....she doesn't really have a JW life. I think they don't like that...her life is with me and her family and she's not about to give that up. All she does is go to the meetings when she feels like it. I believe if they give her an ultimatum I know what she'll choose.

Thank for the suggestions. She knows I come here. I only live about an hour from Destin Fl. I think we're going to the beach for the weekend sometime at the end of this month (the hotel and condo prices really drop after Labor Day, and Sept. and Oct. are the best times to go). I'm just glad that she's the only one in her family that is a JW'...her family is very opposed but don't push her about it. They'll be there for her if anything happens. I asked her if she wanted me to stop telling her things I find out here and she says no....she want's the truth. I think she believes the basic JW teachings about death and so forth...but there's a lot she doesn't agree with. She's only been baptised for about a year and a half. I'm just afraid they are going to want her to move from here since she's not related and I'm openly gay. She was the victim of sexual abuse as a child (not JW) and this all hits real close to home for her.

I told her no...I didn't want to talk to those people. She finally got up and got dressed but was 25 minutes late. I printed out the Michael Porter pervert articles and gave it to her a week or so ago. She's already read Barbara Andersons CD. She took the Porter article from the BBC to give to her PO. I feel like it's only a matter of time before they have a sit down with her.

I gave my JW roommate the articles about this molester. She thinks they have to DF him. I said "I don't think so". She said there is definately something wrong with this. By the way... It's Sunday morning here....and she's not at the meeting.
