  was there anything that you were taught that made you think twice regarding the watchtower's interpetation??

  the scripture about jesus raising the temple in 3 days sounded like he was going to raise himself back to life.

  i never really understood that scripture.

  Have you read the book "Jehovah Unmasked" Is it any good?

  has anyone read or heard anything about a book titled "jehovah unmasked!

  " i read some reviews on amazon and it looked pretty interesting so i just ordered it.

  it is a 5 star book and here is one of the reviewers that caught my eye.

  Just so you know - and Techies HELP SVP

  i'm going off line again for a few days (i hope less but who knows) - or as long as it takes to partition my drives and reinstall all the software, drivers and other programs.. when my computer crashed at the beginning of the month over 2 gigabytes of info was corrupted and lost.

  i have 2 hard drives partitioned into 10 different drives.

  in the crash even the partitions disappeared.

  i'm totally amazed.

  i gave that un report to my (hardcore jw to the extreme max, but in a nice way) aunt, and she didn't speak of it for several days.

  when she said nothing, i knew i'd gotten somewhere.. today she finally spoke up.

  This is a complete misrepresentation of the registration criteria because it crucially and deliberately ignores the following statement “The organization shall undertake to support the work of the United Nations and to promote knowledge of its principles and activities, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITS OWN AIMS AND PURPOSES and the NATURE AND SCOPE OF ITS ...ACTIVITIES.”–Article 3, ECOSOC Resolution 1296 (XLIV) Arrangements for Consultation with Non_Governmental Organizations “

  The point of it all is highlighted in red, just as you've quoted, dozy. It's the SUPPORT and PROMOTION part. While the WBTS won't send Bethelites over to the Middle East to be part of a UN peace-keeping force, they will SUPPORT the work of the UN and PROMOTE knowledge of its principles and activities within the pages of the Awake/Watchtower magazines, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITS OWN AIMS AND PURPOSES and the NATURE AND SCOPE OF ITS...ACTIVITIES. I guess the question arises in the minds of JW's, is this what Jehovah wanted our organization to do? To attach itself to the "scarlet-colored wild beast", the "disgusting thing", the "blasphemous counterfeit of God's Messianic Kingdom"?

  The issue of "trust" is important to me. I know Paul Gillies & his wife - they have been associated with my family for years & stayed with my parents before I was born. He is an intensely clever man who has a keen legal mind & has been on numerous courses. I do not believe that he would knowingly promote a lie.

  Yeah dozy, "trust" is important to a lot of us here, too. That's why we left the organization, because we could no longer "trust" the directives from the UNfaithful and INdiscreet slave. I knew Sam Herd and his wife (how's that for one-upmanship?) and felt that he was an individual I could "trust". As you yourself mentioned, there SHOULD have been an apology regarding the NGO affiliation, or at least an acknowledgment...but there wasn't. And now, as a member of the GB, Sam Herd has not "stepped up to the plate", even though he has the responsibility before Jehovah God and his brothers and sisters to do so. Does this silence on his part mean that Jehovah has directed him and the other GB members not to speak up about this maelstrom which the NGO affair has created amongst the rank & file who are now aware of this? Would I "trust" him anymore? In a pig's eye.

  Maybe I can help people if I'm still on the "inside" and they view me as such.

  Careful, sir82 --- This could backfire on you a couple of ways. If it hits the fan on your watch, you may be the object of the wrath of those impacted by the devastation simply by being elder. And if you tell the dubs, "Hey, I'm on your side! Don't worry, I knew this was going to happen and I'm here to help you!", they could be royally ticked that you hadn't told 'em about it beforehand, but instead chose to remain silent until the bomb went off. Just my 2 cents. Darned if ya do and darned if ya don't, I guess.

  Lately we see changes. Awake! published just once a month. Bethel staff cut back. WT being sued. Buildings being sold.

  The Watchtower is crumbling.

  Reminds me of the broadsides doled out by Cap'n Jack in "Master and Commander".
