Should one who is "truly anointed" share the cup with “those who mistakenly think that they are anointed... may have mental or emotional problems that lead them to believe that they will rule with Christ in heaven.”

Coming to terms with the Watchtower experience

it is a challenge coming to terms with your experience as a jehovah's witness.

if you were born and raised as a jw, and your parents were true believers, the impact on your life is profound, lasting, and largely negative.

in some cases quite abusive emotionally, spiritually, financially, educationally and yes, even sexually.. i recently watched "trumbo", and was quite moved by dalton trumbo's speech to the screen writers guild in 1970. here is an excerpt that i think is quite relevant to this topic:.

Lee Elder. Like most here, I agree with your sentiments, up until the last paragraph.

You mention Ray Franz and his feelings. You would be incorrect in what you say there. Firstly, Ray was explicit in that there is no "organization" as a separate entity from the people "of" the organization. The "organization" IS the people.

Such that it is, the fact the leaders are corrupt and the organization is corrupt is not a strange concept. The organization did NOT victimize the leaders. The leaders are they who caused, using the organization, the victims to be victimized.

Further on Ray. I had opportunity, both in letters and on the telephone, to discuss this topic with Ray. From my personal experience I can tell you that you have not reflected the man or his evolved beliefs in what you say.

For example, Ray, in the beginning, as is demonstrated in his writings, felt that the organization could be saved. He even intimated that anyone involved with the organization was a victim in a broad sense, thus it could be said that he felt, early on, that even the top brass were victims.

However, if you watch the videos of Ray later on, you see that he changed this opinion greatly.

I saw it personally. I wrote him almost 20 years ago and told him of what I was doing locally. He wrote me back and objected, "why would you want to do that" (I don't disclose what IT is). What I was doing was anti-watchtower activity.

However, as time went by, I found that Ray put the whole UN affair in CofC. I contacted him about this.

The UN affair was not his experience. It was not his crisis of conscience. It was mine, it was others, it was not his.

He had come full circle, as is demonstrated in this act, and in his later videos. His interest eventually became the exposing of watchtower leading to its distruction.

Thus, he pointed the finger squarely at the governing body from whom he sprung. They are NOT victims. They are the victimizers.

According to Watchtower, Jesus is the cause of all the suffering on Earth. They teach as doctrine, that Jesus is using earthquakes, pestilence, war and any other suffering as a 'calling card' to demonstrate that he is secretly lurking in Earth's neighborhood.

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted

well on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.

another great big anticlimax.

some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted

another great big anticlimax.

I was just over to the hall setting up. All things set up. The front row is reserved for the dog and pony show.

Tonight is the memorial.
Now, in past memorials, as a server, we were required to serve the hall, after which, we had to scurry to the front of the hall and seat ourselves in the first row. Now came the dog and pony show.
With all the server-bros sitting down, the brother at one end (me) would get up, serve the plate/cup to the row of servers starting from the other end of the row.
He (me) would then scurry back to the end of the row where he (me) was sitting to receive the plate/cup he (me) just served. The first brother-server who was just given the plate/cup first by me, quickly rose and was standing by my side to take it back.
Thus sayeth the gb.

I suppose the dog and pony will show up tonight likewise.

If you cannot step back and see this sanctimonious pomp for what it is, then God help you.

This is NOT what Jesus had in mind.

Leaving the JWs

i am 32 years and have recently left the organisation.

it has been so hard this year i have gone through so many ups and downs.

Fleecing the Flock

at the last assembly i attended in 2005 the cost was $11,000 per day in yuba city (just over two hours away from our circuit).

this always seemed a bit high for a facility that was built on donated land and whose construction loan had been paid off for 20 years.. i just looked up the cost to rent the redding civic center, which is just as nice if not nicer and a whole lot closer for our circuit, and it only costs $2,500 a day plus $250 for consumables (parking included).

if it would save the brother's and sister's $8,250 a day and they could have the assembly locally why wouldn't they do it?.

How much does an assembly cost? Simple formula.

1) At the mid day announcements you will hear the attendance. Write it down.

2) At noon, the elders will meet to take a resolution. It goes like this "we have agreed on the normal figure of $12.00 and we agree to cover the cost of the Visiting Bethel Dude and the CO " (2 hotels rooms and meals)

3) Multiply the attendance by $12.00 and add the CO and Bethel Dude.

4) Voila
