I get it now. Belief you must be a Baptist and you want to ask a JW girl out. Is that right? How old are you?
Juni :)
would u let your daughter/son date a baptist boy/girl?
if no, why not?

i'm here studying religion for school and personal reasons.
to be honest i'm not a jw, i'm a baptist christian.
i have a few friends who are jw and one of them greatly influenced my thoughts about jehovah.
First of all, you have to be of an age where you are mature enough to know the responsibilities that marriage entails. If you know of someone whom you feel you'd like to get to know better for this reason, then it has been advised that you stay in a group for a time to observe. Then if this person seems like "the one" then it's suggested that you have supervised dates. Also, you should ask for the input of elders as far as his/her spiritual maturity state.
And that's it..............

we all know that the jw's think that the end is so close.. in a way, i'm still programmed that way.
i like reading news from all around the world, and you can find bad news all around the world.
example: bird flu, iran nuclear problem, terrorism, and so on.... i'm just wondering if other x witnesses here still are doom and gloom people, thinking that we are on the edge of some world catastrophy?
Good evening JH,
I can relate to what you said about being programmed to believe that we are on the brink of catastrophe. I feel bad for those people who are suffering and locally I do what I can to help out individuals. But on a world-wide scale, I don't have the money or notoriety to make a dent. I donate where I can, but I also have bills to pay.
Personally, I enjoy each day I'm alive and try to be a good person to those around me. Where events are heading - I don't really know. Religion is the root of these upheavals so that agrees w/my beliefs that religion is a farce. Being a spiritual person brings peace to one's inner self and therefor moves one to be kind toward others.
I know that the JW religion believes it's the only true belief, but likewise w/Islam, Jews, etc. That's where a lot of trouble begins. People then feel superior to others and become judgmental and unloving. I feel there is a huge chasm between being religious and spiritual.
My mantra is then, "Live each day to the fullest and be kind to others".

I agree with Legolas. Also, why do you ask?

i'd be interested in hearing your experiences, if you were newly inactive and felt pressured to go to the memorial.
did the jw's pressure you to go or did you feel guilty for missing the lord's evening meal (well, we all miss it anyway when we pass it round)
No. No one called on me about the time and date for 2 years. Then I started a study w/a different cong. elder and his wife. Then the heat was on to come to the mtgs. Went to a couple including the Memorial. I was in very serious mental state at the time and it didn't go well. I had to leave.
.
.
i will tell you why i think that you didn't get picked later.
Never liked cliques, highschool mentality as an adult, and I know who I am and don't need a bone from anyone.
I value good answers and peoples' responses to my posts and their expressing gratitude. Have fun with some of the fluff posts, try to help some that are going through the same experiences I've had in the org. and in life.

what does religion mean to you?
is it just an organised system of dogmas propagared by its adherants, is it a psycho-therapeutic system, the body of christ, or the way one lives out the things he believes?
or something else?
I AGREE WITH ALAMB:
It has no place in my life anymore, it has been replaced by spirituality.
I see it as a crutch to the weak, and a control mechanism for the powerful

a weird thing happened tonight.
i turned round in a bar and there was a girl coming the other way towards me.. so i said "oh i'm sorry", politely because i was in her way.. and she said to me "yeah, so you should be".. if a man had said that to me with the same snarled up look on his face i would have most certainly punched him,.
but i didn't, i just carried on past.. then i thought, how rude that was.
Good evening Ballistic,
Why??
1. There is a full moon tonight.
2. She's a bitch.
3. She's the exception; there are many nice, polite women out there.
i just stated reading a book called "the lovely bones" by alice sebold.
i am beginning chapter 3. here is the excerpt from the inside cover:
when we first meet susie salmon, she is already in heaven.
I also liked Digital Fortress by Dan Brown.
i saw this in the news paper today.
busted a gut laughing.. reuters.. washington (reuters) - the white house was bombarded with questions on monday about why it failed to go public with news that vice president dick cheney shot a fellow quail hunter until the day after the accident.. the victim, harry whittington, 78, took pellets in his cheek, neck and chest when cheney fired his shotgun while aiming for a bird during a hunt in southern texas on saturday, and was in stable condition at a corpus christi hospital.. whittington was moved out of intensive care on monday afternoon but peter banko, administrator of christus spohn hospital, said he did not know when he would be discharged.. "his condition continues to be stable ... it's not critical, it's not serious.
he's in stable condition, doing extremely well," banko said.. the accident happened about 5:30 p.m. on a private ranch about 200 miles south of san antonio, where the vice president has hunted previously.
Late night shows had a field day w/this one. One announced in his monologue - "Finally weapons of mass destruction were found." Anyone here remember when President Ford was always bopping people in the head w/golf balls?
Poor guy who got hit. Like Swan said, he had a mild heart attack from being hit in the heart w/the bird shot.
