  the first congregation i went to basically was warm and friendly even though i didn't develop very many close friends there but some of the others i went to were rather scandulous in more ways than one.

  one that i went to im surprised anybody is still there that has a conscious with all that went on.

  was yours like that?

  What did they all do on "worldly holidays" when you were home alone?

  i always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.

  what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.

  but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??

  Witnesses having their own parties and gift giving around the same time as ' worldly ' holidays allows them to appear to their children as not being too asocial. In this way the pretension of not being ' too much' outside acceptable social structure is maintained while at the same time encouraging in their children a sense of separatness from the world. This is just another control method ( mind game ) handed down from the GB . . . no wonder so many JWs have emotional problems.

  I feel so sad for them.

  if you grew up in the "troof" you were probably told that all young people in the world are only into sex, drugs, and making money.

  no thought about god.. you probably heard the "bad association spoils useful habits" scripture a million times.. maybe you heard, "well, they maybe nice, but are they going to encourage you to serve jehovah?".

  the article in this weeks magazine, dispels the myth that only jw youth are truly "christian.
