i have been informed on good authority (a dub for 27 years) that you cannot get disfelowshiped for committing a wrongdoing, only for being unrepentant.. can anyone tell me if this is true or not, and if it is not where the misunderstanding comes from?

As the Little Flock book states a person is to express 'godly sadness' to be repentant ("what have I done to Jehovah and his org?") ... this differs from 'worldly sadness' ("I'm sorry").
It's funny how elders' sons and presiding overseer's families seem to either receive mere counsel or be reinstated so quickly... others can attempt a return for years.
Just how is it elders read the hearts again?? And where is that scripture that says they have been given the right to?

I'm with ya' on the clear mind and sharp claws ~ perhaps the only good thing to result from JW rollercoaster: I'm smarter and much less vulnerable ~ my defense mechanism is fine tuned.

i have a jw friend who has just had a close family member df'd.
she is really close to this person, and is basically his best friend, and all she had to lean on.
she now has to shun him.
Years ago I had to deal with a similar situation ~ an elder/school over. was df'd... he was my best friend in the congregation, someone I could lean on, someone who understood me.
Upon receiving an immediate library invitation for elders' counciling about the reprocutions of continuing my association with him, I was faced with the choice of losing either way.
I was advised it would most likely lead to being df'd myself ~ elders concern of apostacy breeding inside the org if others were permitted to talk with him (elders seem to think when other elders are df'd they automatically become 'apostate').
My conscience and my heart would not allow me to simply shut down the love I had felt for him for years, and after examination as presented here by reborn & LB, I made the choice.
and so I remain 'bad associashun'.
i am fortunate enough to say "no.
" i tried very hard to get people to come to meetings and assemblies...and during it all i was bored out of my mind and had a voice in my heart keep saying "what if what you think is the 'truth' is not really the "truth" and you stand before the throne to be judged?
would these people take your place and die for you because you believed in them and not jah?
Yes, as a good lil pionner I was often carting new ones to the meetings, Memorial, circuit assemblies... even helped a few get baptized.
Breaking ALL the rules I took a special interest in the abandoned & broken spirited who were marked & cast out of the approved status of 'good association' assisting them to rebuild their faith and return to Jehovah... yes even df'd ones.

a local needs talk was given about how anyone that knows someone might be dating a non- witness and doesn't report it to the elders is actually hindering the free flow of jehovah's holy spirit.
yes, if the "sin" goes unreported, the whole congregation will be affected, just as in the case of achan and his family!

This one was an understood policy at a few of my kh's and often eluded to from the platform... do you regularly associate with the pioneers & elders? or are you more interested in the friendship of the non-regular publishers, those hanging on the fringes of jah's org??
Out of the other corner of their mouths they council against forming cliques within the org. (you too... widen out)
well as you know i have been out since i was 16 years old and that was on dec 21 1984!

one thing that the witnesses promote is how they are different from the rest of the world.
in your personal experience , did you find that you could trust a witness more than you could a non-jw?
While inside I felt they were more trustworthy & honest than other people of course my perception was altered at the time I wanted to believe they were better.
As their personal lives *what goes on outside of kh* became known it became clear some were no diff... marriages are not all roses, families are not joined at the hip as they appear, they do not wash their cars as often as they claim to, consume more coffee/donuts than WT suggests...

many of the posters here have been in the organization for years.during the time that you have been associated, have you ever had to go before a commitee?
did you confess to something or were you confronted by the elders?
were you ever accused of something but it couldn't be proven?

It certainly altered my view of the royalty-inspired eldership group- asking a bunch of questions too personal/ not pertaining to the issues- pacing the floor while they all but had me under the bare bulb for interrogation, not allowing me to explain my answers... their judging opened my eyes to their true colors instead the 'hiding place from the windstorm' masquerade

how did you rid yourself of them after you felt you no longer wanted anything wt related?
amazon, ebay, local book store, sell them back to brothers, burn them at apostate party, other...?.

newboy- that's the line the dubs used on me to get me to stop reading OTHER religions literature- hey, to each his own- as writerpen says, it's all about moving on w/ life...
considering the WTS's contradictions & predictions over the years, perhaps someone else can use the pieces I'm offering to help DISPROVE the truth of the JWs- there are many ways to look at any given situation- it's all in your perception

They're taking up space which is a constant reminder of my lost & wasted time with the WTS- interested in any ideas you all have.
