Womens Right`s are they Wrong?
by dido inwomen today fight for `women`s right`s` but are they doing women any favours?
as far as i can see, they have just made it harder for them.
now they are expected to have the kids, work full time, clean house, cook, babysit, taxi drive, nurse, etc., i think they have done us a disservice, by trying to be `equal` to men in the workplace.

What has this board given to you?
by Crumpet inhaving cooled down a bit in the garden i got to thinking about what this board has given me and wondered what anyone else feels they have gained from it.. for me its been invaluable and even life changing:.
1) freedom from the brainwashing - when i came here i had already read ray franz's books and still believed it jws had the truth - hat i was basically worthless and that i would die at armageddon.
the reasoned conversations and help of the posters from all over the world has enabled me to have freedom of thought - something i didnt even know i didnt have until i spent time here.. 2) friends who empathise and know from an experience what i have been through in a way outsiders can never possiby understand.. 3) entertainment - unbelievable laughs and moments of humour that have cheered me up so many times.. 4) association - via the aposta bbqs and telephone chats i can now have so i don't feel so isolated and to some extent alleviates the awful pain of separation from my loved family.. 5) information - from this board and posters here i have found out things that were my right to know but would never have learnt otherwise - my sisters marriage, my aunts tragic death.. 6) reunions - i have now met at least one person who knows me from my childhood and has grown into a man of such kindness and patience that i would have missed out on completely had he not been here and been kind enough to hold my hand - even when i've been an irritating totured little idiot!.

How would the Governing Body treat Jesus if he were on earth today?
by unbrainwashed in.
they would criticize him for "independent thinking" and eventually disfellowship him for apostasy for not going along with their religious system and doctrines, don't you think?.
oh wait...that's kind of like what the sanhedrin did to him 2,000 years ago..

They would all start sucking up expecting a pat on the back , until he started to inspect his sheep ,
then one by one they would be sent to his left , all the while they would be saying "lord lord didn't we prophesy in your name ....... you now the rest

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???
by kid-A ini have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.
how many "welcome" or "introduction" .
threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

What if they're right?
by LovesDubs indid that mentality keep you in fear and prevent you from leaving?
how many times were we told that the kingdom halls would be our ark and that we needed to keep going to the meetings so that we wouldnt miss the announcement that the great tribulation was beginning and the doors of the ark were closing...even though the bible says nobody knows the day or the hour?
did any of you ever pray for your relatives to die so they would have a ressurection and not be destroyed at armageddon?

Scriptures You Will Not Hear at the 14-05-06 Church Sermon
by scout575 in"but a certain man named ananias with sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, but his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
but peter said , ananias, why hast satan filled thine heart to lie to the holy ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the field?
( acts 5:1-3 ).

we have to remember that this account was written way after the apostles were around and the early christian church didn't even have these writtings it sounds more like the kind of thing to keep the church members in line and making sure donations from the rich were given over to the church, which would have beenl valuable the equivelent of 100 poor donations , it would have been an urban legend of its time, probably instigated by the clergy of the time .

UPDATE 2: Since Freedom is Free, Why is it Taxed?
by RichieRich inyesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.
mom was there (didn't go to work- guess why) and she was pissed.

Richie welcome to the real world
This is life, look for the easiest way to live ,keep it simple , if help comes your way and its free take it .
but most of all stay as independant as possible.
My mother started to look after me when i was 10 (lived with grandmother ) threw me out at 13 and then again at 15 .
when you have been relying on mum and dad for everything that a human being needs its a bit of a wake up call to find that you will have to do this for your self.
You are intelligent !! Good luck !!
