i think as long as people are looking for the comfort of religion the wts will continue to change and develop simply because they have the resources to do it , for some times and dates are important , for others the fellowship , for some the rigid rules and regulations , the list goes on people will always look for answers to their questions in life and there will always be religious / charismatic leaders to give them what they hope for, so i wouldn't be surprised if a pheonix will rise from the ashes again

Hello, I'm new - does anyone else feel the same as me?
by Zalrahs ini was raised in the jw cult from birth until i left when i was 18(i am now 34).
i hated it from the beginning, but because my mom was so strict, there was nothing i could do about it.
(my dad didn't belong to the jws but i didn't get much sympathy or support from him - he didn't want to "rock the boat".

I feel the same, i feel that organized religion will ultimatley burdon me with guilt , do things this way or else, some people find a religious group that satisfies a need , but mabey for a while you could keep it simple and just love and treat others as you would have them treat you.

Sleeping at assemblies and conventions
by free2beme inmy in-laws still attend meetings and defend the faith to the best of their limited ability.
i saw limited, as their understanding of the faith ended somewhere around the 1980's and when you bring up new understanding, they think it might be apostate and do not listen.
there not alone, trust me, several witnesses do not grasp the changes.

i remember going to an convention in canary wharf south london indoor place , anyhoo my friend brought smelling salts to wake her up cos you would end up fighting the sleep imagine that you need smelling salts to keep you awake , i even had to use them but in the end i gave in and slept along with hundreds of others no doubt

many people on here are alienated from close family members simply because they do not agree with the watchtowers current beliefs, they may still believe in god and jesus but are treated as if they have rejected god so they have good reason to be angry sometimes.
as for doing harm i don't think there have been many suicides as a result of reading threads on this board, but many have been helped not to, so you do the maths.

UK & IRELAND MAP
by ballistic ini had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).
(and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).
anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

i have only ever been to bowes road north london an old cinema or theater , and twickenham rugby stadium the seats were always uncomfortable, the first time i went i nearly fainted or fell asleep probably and i only went one day, after that i always tried to get in a shady spot and i brought binoculars to see if i could spot friends and cute guys , i always liked singing the songs and would often start crying especially at" life without end"

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?
by minimus ini used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!
