as i walked around a little bit i noticed a large hell scanner sitting in a room with a plastic tarp over it.

Run, Sir Clark, Run...
by teejay inif he runs, he will be the most qualified of all those who now aspire to the office in 2004. if he runs, general wesley k. clark (ret.
) will be the second most qualified person to ever seek the presidency of the u.s. over the past 100 years, second only to the great william jefferson cliinton.
what follows are excerpts from an article about him in a recent esquire magazine.. he is a remarkable man with an unassailable integrity -- the kind of man that has all the little bushites shaking in their boots.

I've never heard of the guy. However, Howard Dean seems to be the only Democrat with some balls and since he's so damn liberal, I think a guy that fits this description will be a good match for him.

Is the US a Christian Country? Should it be?
by jst2laws inin a different discussion another poster made a popularly accepted statement about the religious foundation of the united states.
"some say that our nation has never been a christian nation, but i think history shows that it has been, from the start.

Is the US a Christian Country? Should it be?
The answer to both questions is an emphatic NO!!!!!!!
While it's true that the Framers of the Constituion and the majority of this country's population were and have always practiced various forms of the Christian religion, the First Amendment makes any kind of official endorsement of Christianity totally unconstitutional.
A lot of fundamentalist Christians scream that there rights are being violated when school districts are prohibited from forcing students to pray, or statues of the ten commandments are taken out of government buildings. However, they forget that one of the premier tenets of any true democracy is the protection of the minority from the tyranny of the majority. If we cross that line then America simply becomes a Fundamentalist Christian state. We won't be much different than those Fundametalist States of another religion in the middle east.
I think where a great deal of the confusion about this issue comes in is the fact that we see the government acknowledging it's Christian heritage all the time. It seems hypocritical for the gov to give you a day off on Christmas w/pay, yet at the same time say it's illegal to put a picture of the 10 commandments. However there is a difference between acknowledging a religion and endorsing it. Once we fail to understand that thne this great democratic experiment called the United States of America will have failed and hopefully will go the way of the Confederacy and the Soviet union before it.

Rebels and Red Coats - Native Americans & Blacks in the American Revolution
by Simon inthis topic is largely in response to the topic:.
in one post, i said:one possible reason that both native americans and blacks (then slaves) were treated so badly for so long is that both largely sided with the british in the war of independence.
i guess countries have some kind of giant collective consciousness that takes a while to change.. .

Bigboi,
Slavery was alive and well, well before the 1600's. Slaves a world wide commodity since the dawn of history.
Danny
I don't think I said or implied the opposite of what you said above.
However, contrary to popular belief, the first Africans to arrive in this country were in fact, not slaves.

Dude, if that's the case then the War for Independence musta been hella longer than I thought.
I mean it can be argued that mistreatment of native Americans was simultaneous with Columbus' "discovery" in 1492. The first recorded instance of a black man being forced into life-long servitude was in Virginia in the early 1600's I believe.

The Arab World vs. The Blackout Of 2003
by Latin assassin from Manhattan inyou can tell alot about a society by the way they act when the lights go out.
when the lights went out in iraq, looting was the first thing that took place.
not only did the citizens pillage hussein's palaces, they also destroyed each other's property as well.

Even after destroying each other's homes and sabotaging their own infrastructure, the Iraqi's now want to stand up against their own liberators, the Americans -
Lord have mercy. The invasion of Iraq and the subsequent events assoiciated with it cannot in any way be compared to a 24-36 hr blackout, no matter how many ppl are involved.
The one point you made there can easily be refuted. The Russian ppl are pretty much famous for using exact same tactic the Iraqi resisters chose. I seriously doubt they meant any Iraqis any harm. It was probably a tactic meant to slow down the American advance as well as take those resources out of the enemies hands. You know, anything to make invaders of your home territory lives all the more difficult.

Why so many books and magazines.
by joelbear inokay, there's the bible which is the inspired word of god right?
it is the message from god to manking, only its written in mystery and puzzles so only people with a good heart can understand it, right?
so we need bible aids to explain to people what the bible is saying, because only the faithful and discreet slave really understand what the bible says and so they have to make it understandable.

The JW religion would be nothing if it weren't for it's literature. Christian assembly, education and the like is nothing but a guise the Tower uses to brainwash it's followers via their pubs. Think about it...what would the various facets of the JW religion look like if they only used the Bible or put much less emphasis on it's publications.
Farkel authored a very good thread on this subject about a year or so ago. I don't feel like looking it up and posting a link now, but for anyone interested it sure would be an interesting read.
