Bush Ads & 9-11

can you imagine abraham lincoln running without mentioning his leadership during the civil war?

can you imagine fdr running without mentioning his accomplishments during world war ii?

I personally see a distinction between Pearl Harbor/wwII and 9/11 and the war on terrorism. One was an attack on a military base, the other was a terrorist attack on what are percieved symbols of oppression in the world from which the attackers came. Pearl Harbor should/could/would have been expected, the murder of thousands of ppl by using commercial airplanes as missles was something that few reasonable persons of our day would been able to predict. 9/11 was murder plain and simple and behind that attack were no dreams of world domintion or regional supremecy. It was a desperate act by ppl who seek to destroy our civilazation because they are led to believe that by doing so they will save their own. Given the complexity of the world scene and the issues dominating it today, I think it shows a major lack of insight for the Bush Administration to use images of the murder of 3000 ppl to win an election. America will most likely never become a place where things like 9/11 happen with the frquency they do in the rest of the world...at least as long as the are being perpetrated by foriegners.

Using imaes do nothing more than promote fear. Which I thought most conservatives said was a liberal tactic used to get their hands on ppls money.

I htink Maher's comments about 9/11 have a great deal of substance to them. The guys who killed all those ppl on 9/11 didn't do it just because they are evil and hate America. It goes deeper than that. There attacks were on places that carry a tremendous amount of symbolism in the rest of the world, particularly their own. No matter how desperate and twisted their thoughts and actions were, we do ourselves a great deal of good by getting past the blood and raw emotions of this event and ask ourselves why educated men would resort to such a life.

I read today that the number of Dems who actually support Bush is far fewer than any Republican incumbent President before him.

In one poll only 247 signed a petition showing they plan to vote for Bush. That's only a fraction of the 5,000 that signed back in Reagan's day.

Money and the Meetings a Problem?

a friend of ours was told that he/she would be taken off as the beneficiary of a large amount of money unless he/she would come back to the meetings and go out in the field service.. our friend has been fading for quite some time now.the person who put him/her as beneficiary won't have anything to do with him/her unless he/she comes back to the meetings and participates in the field service.. he/she will not be bribed and will lose the large amount of money he/she stands to gain because of refusing to be compromised as to what is known about the society now.. his/her friend only knows that he/she has family and personal concerns as the reason he/she don't go to meetings anymore.letting the friend know the real reasons would certainly be cause for him/her to be removed as the beneficiary of a large amount of money.. our advice to him/her was to be true to ones self even though this would be financially difficult.. the reason we are putting the person as him/her is to protect the identity of the individual friend of ours.. we would appreciate some of your thoughts concerning this matter.. blueblades
