Movement to 'Draft" Hillary
by Guest 77 insome months ago i heard that hillary will be drafted as president at the democratic convention.
well, this is no longer a rumor.
on the hannity & colmes show last night, foxnews, this 'rumor' was confirmed to be true.. the reason for the public silence (not told on the show) but by the rumor mill, is to keep hillary on a low profile, not to create a public stir.

The twelve years of spending...much of it Democratic spending in congress...was necessary to end the cold war. The Dems spent $3 for every new dollar Reagan brought into the government coffers. I seem to remember the economy taking a dip about the same time as this proposed tax hike was proposed. How is it that raising taxes helps the economy? Oh, it doesn't. And remember, the current recession we're coming out of with the best figures in 20 years...that was started under Clinton.
Well....I seem to remember that the sluggish economy of the previous Bush admin was one of the main reasons Clinton managed to get elected.

As you went on to be concerned about, the money in the tax cuts was taken and put on the tab of our children and grandchildren. It has to come from somewhere, politicians love to take it from the future
I think this is true. I believe that tax cuts will probably always lead to future tax increases, unless those tax cuts serve to permanently shrink the size of gov and the services it provides. Theoretically I think it's a good idea, however Republicans tend to focus only on the social services government provides. YThose are the ones they'd like to see gone. However, tax breaks to huge corporations who send jobs overseas despite posting record profts and insane spending on defense is ok I guess.

A lot of what Clinton and the REPUBLICAN congress accomplished was due to the tax cuts of Reagan
I dunno I may be wrong, but wasn't there a tax increase proposed by Clinton and mainly him alone in the early part of his administration that was needed to offset the deficits caused by 12 years of spending by the Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations?

No Reform on Blood Because Deaths are Cheaper
by metatron inin recent years, the watchtower society has given conflicting signals about its policy.
regarding compelling witnesses not to take blood transfusions.
inconsistencies in their understanding and enforcement of this ban on blood, this doesn't.

All true. This is one of the things the WTS will never change. Imagine the uproar that new light on blood would cause. I doubt even the most diehard witness would be able to continue to follow the Tower if it changed this doctrine.

Teacher "ruins" lives of first graders by saying Santa is illogical
by Gopher inshould this teacher be teaching first-graders?
mom objects when teacher blows santa's cover

The teacher was wrong...this is an issue for parents, not teachers. I knew kids who were in 4th grade and still believed in Santa.
I think teachers who expose children to alternative viewpoints are treasures. There is nothing like stoking the fires of a young mind with a new, diffferent point of view. Whenever teachers would do that it was always so refreshing.

And so it begins
by Yerusalyim in.
tom green, the convicted polygamist in utah, is requesting (through his lawyers of course) that the supreme court overturn his convictions based both on the supreme court ruling on the texas sodomy law and the massachucetts supreme court ruling on gay marriage.. so begins the trip down the slippery slope.

I don't understand what the deal is. Topics like this make it seem as though nothing went on before the Supreme Court hears a case and decides whether or not it's 'constitutional'.

Abraham.... why such a GOOD guy?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by outbutnotdown ini used to be a jw, (from birth until about 12 years ago... now 34).
the one thing i could never figure out was why abraham was considered to be a chosen person, not only by christians but muslims also.
for arguments sake, we have to take the same stance that other religious people do, that the bible is factual and literal.... (although my opinion on that is different).

The main reason Abraham is a beloved figure is his faith to do what God tells him no matter what. That's the main reason he's held up as an example.

They have nothing to loose by shunning
by garybuss inif my attitude toward the shunners is to be waiting for them with a full pardon, waiting for them to quit shunning me so i can shower them with love as their reward for being jerks, they have nothing to lose by continuing the shunning.
they don't have a dog in the fight.
if children who shun parents were notified by the parents that they will loose their inheritance if they continue the shunning, all of a sudden they have something to loose by shunning.. .

If the shunned resorted to those types of things, would they be howing themselves to be no better than the shunners? It's an honest question, really.
