Are not the exchanging of rings on the wedding day also pagan? No matter what day you choose to do something, some pagan has done something on that day, BIG DEAL! Who cares. No matter what we do, pagans have already done it. Eat, sleep, $hit, they have already done it. Are those things wrong also?

COMBATTING CULT MIND CONTROL and releasing the bonds were both instrumental in getting my wife to see the truth. They were somewhat neutral to her, so she would listen. I underlined quotes and would read them to her to get her interested. There are several powerful quotes in these books. It was amazing to me to see just how similar all high control groups are. After we read combating cult mind control and releasing the bonds then Crisis of Conscience was welcomed without hesitation. It was freedom for her, from that point on. Even though i personally read CoC first, Steve hassans books really helped me tremendously, on my own exit. They helped me past those little doubts that would still come up, things like "yeah, they predicted the end several times but maybe they are the CLOSEST thing to the truth":) All groups are the same and i dont think i will ever fit in, anywhere. I know the JW's arent the truth and all the JEsus talk makes me sick to my stomach. I am now reading books about mormon fundamentalism. I think im more interested in religions than the bible at this point in my life.

anyone feeling a wee bit guilty about celebrating Thanksgiving and Xmas??
by Star Moore ini was feeling a bit guilty about celebrating as this is my 1st year out and i know the history of all the holidays and birthdays are pagan or bloody or idolatrous.. .
but i was thinking that it's not what someone made them in the past but what they are right now.. to us, at this moment.
am i going to sit down on thanksgiving.. and say, "i hate those indians, think i'll go kill some"..????

Last year was our first year celebrating holidays. My 6 year old of course accepted it with arms wide open. My wife suprised me also. Myself, i enjoyed it ok, but i had a few moments of guilt. This year things are great. Ive been looking forward to Christmas for 2 months now. Sure, its pagan origin. That has nothing to do with what it is 2 thousand years later. If Charles Taze Russel believed in pyramidology, does that make the watchtower of today Pagan? The pagans ate, slept, and drank just like we do, are those things wrong also? Its all so trivial now. I just laugh at how we used to be so overboard and ignorant.

Is is from an advertisement for the Millions booklet that appeared on the back page of several Golden Age magazines, It says: Do these things appeal to you? Unending human life; perpetual health;... no more fear of the landlord, the doctor, the sheriff, the employer, of evil men and angels, of vicious animals, of dependent old age; no more blindness, lameness, deafness, dumbness; no more bald heads, glass eyes, false teeth, or wooden legs; no more sickness, disease, or pestilence; no more ignorance or superstition; no more sorrow; no more tears! No, we are not trifling: these things and more are absolutely sure, because promised by the Word of God. The world has already ended,... earth's times of restitution, its springtime, begins to count in 1926. When that times comes, all the above blessings will not come instantaneously, but will come speedily on those who live through the next five or six years of trouble. [5]

This was taken off the jw-media website Conscience Jehovah's Witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the Scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict Bible teachings. Emphasis is placed on personal application of Bible principles and the value of a sound, Bible-based conscience.—Matthew 15:9; 2 Corinthians 1:24.
