  there are many thing i dont regret about jw

  learning from jw about cristmas is one of them

  the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.

  this is not a putdown but did ya read my post honey?

  like i said whatever positives things the jws have or do, me and mine can find elsewhere and not have to deal with the negatives exclusive to the jws.

  Some time ago it was not possible to find them elsewhere, readly available at you own home for free.

  Now we have the internet where we can educate ourselves just about anything.

  Most jw converts had not idea about the bible and were totally ignorant about history, in fact some who walked out could do better in further university studies, In too many cases, out of proportions, exjw AND jw have been the best students thanks to study habits and other free jw background period..

  what you said above really didnt have too much to do with what i expressed.

  and by the way I educated myself about the lies of the watchtower before the internet ever came my way. not a good thing to assume honey.

  positives things about the jws....hm...thinking...thinking...ok the positive things about the jws I can find elsewhere so that I dont have to deal with the negatives things about the jws.

  Unaffected by Holidays

  who here are not affected by holidays?

  i am not, perhaps because i was raised under the jw doctine but i do not view them as evil as the jw do.

  for those that have not been informed i no longer believe in the jw doctrine.

  hm I would venture to say that if you were unaffected by the holidays then it would never be a subject for you to talk about. I was raised a jw and it did affect me. So much that I didnt want my kids to grow up like that. What I have learned on the outside is Christmas and the holidays are what you make it - having fun with family and friends and being with the ones you love and showing your loved ones how much you love them, not by gifts but by actions.

  CHRISTMAS DINNER WHAT DID TOU ALL HAVE???????++

  we had, wait for it.....................home made beef curry and it was fantastic .

  i was going to make a dinner, but since there only 3 of us and were not quite there yet, we decided to have our favorite....curry ym.

  if the day ever comes and my daughter and her man are out ill have the biggest christmas ever.. but for now, i feel a little empty, and id feel fake, you know trying to enjoy it.

  What is everyone doing for Christmas?

  we are going out to glenview, il to spend w/my husband's family christmas eve.

  however, my son is sick with another virus, so unfortunately we may have to miss this year .

  what will you be doing for the holidays including new years!

  Thanks Evesapple!

  Was just talking to my oldest son about getting the tree and presents. Hubby's not going to work tomorrow so I'll problaly send him out to do some shopping and get the tree. Also planning on making some chicken gumbo for either christmas day or christmas eve.

  Anybody else affected by the winter storm?

  i awoke this morning to the sound of creaking and breaking tree branches in my neighborhood, one after the other, due to the heavy accumulation of ice from last night's storm.. unfortunately, one of the trees in my backyard is a complete wreck, and it fell on my power lines, breaking them.

  i drove around the neighborhood a bit and the tree carnage is like nothing i've ever seen.. also, in a span of 3 to 4 hours i saw probably 8 bright green flashes of power transformers popping.

  i probably will not have power for at least 3 days, probably more.

  Yes, I live on the northeast side of Indianapolis. The first storm missed us yesterday morning but we got socked last night. Getting the van out and going for my husband was a bitch. Luckily some of our nieghbors were out too and helped us. We live in a new housing development and the association still hasnt worked out a reliable snowplow service.

  Staying home. Got alot of snow dumped on us last night. Was pretty hard getting the husband out so he could go to work. Car got stuck a few times. WE usually go to the hubby's mom's in Dayton Ohio (about a hour and 45 minutes away) but with all the snow we're gonna stay here and go to Christmas Eve services tomorrow night at church (it's gonna be nice - i've never gone to Christmas services before).

  the 12/18/04 issue of the economist magazine has a cover story titled "the end of the world: a brief history of an enduring belief.

  " the article briefly discusses the history of apocalyptic beliefs from john darby's concept of rapture, william miller's failed prediction of christ's return on october 22nd, 1844, to the churchof seventh-day adventists.

  what was the silliest thing taken away from you as a child because of its supposed evil influence?

  i remember when i was about 5 or 6 years old, my mum gave me a copy of the 1812 overture.

  i remember it as a real cool gift at the time.

  Wayne Dyer was the Dr.Phil of the 70's and 80's and has nothing satanic at all in any of his books. I loved his stuff.

  Dr Dyer has just published a new book I think it's call "The Power of Intention".

  I had heard of him but never read his stuff. He has a special on PBS about his new book (4 hours long) which I watch and thought it all made sense. My local library has the book and I plan to put it on hold and check it out.

  My father tried to make me chuck my Micheal Jackson Triller album. He said that it could bring demons into the house. I refused (amazing what backbone I had at times) saying I would never bring anything into the house that could harm our family.

  I still have the album and I have yet to see a demon.
