Mrs G,
As I read that nasty poem she gave I know I had a look of shock and disgust on my face. My dear Mrs G you dont need to ever have that woman back in your house. I wouldnt.
I just saved the nasty thing on my computer.

She sent me a poem about how I was going to be destroyed at armageddon.
wtf!Was that supposed to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about attending meetings at the hall? What the hell was she thinking? Oh wait...she wasnt thinking...my bad. That showed a total lack of consideration for you and your condition MrsG, you dont need a person like that in your life.

The last time I ran into a jw was at a retail store. He sold my husband some speakers and gave my kids a bible story book (which they have never seen or read - it's hidden in my closet).

Should dubs be hanging out in casinos?
by unbeliever inmom and i went to have a bite to eat at one of her favorite restaurants which is in a casino.
lo and behold as we were leaving in walks 5 of her dub friends who were going to eat at the same place.
she was talking and talking and i got tired of standing there being ignored so i walked away and started playing the slots which was well in their eye site.

My mother has bought California lottery tickets ever since it started in the 80's I think. She would leave litte bits of paper around the house with her numbers on them. It's a wonder none of the jws that would come over didnt notice the little bits of paper. I should ask if she's still playing, since lately she's trying to get stronger in the "truth".

Do you have any 'holdover' beliefs?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower inafter reading and responding recently to a post about eating pork and clean and unclean meats, and also a few about newfound freedoms and pleasures that some enjoy now that they are out of the jws, i got to wondering if there is anything like that on the flip side of the coin.
in other words, despite you leaving the wts, is there anything you still believe that they taught, even though you left or were forced out, and no longer believe the rest of the jw doctrine?.
i was never a jw, but i was raised in a rather similar group called the worldwide church of god, many of the controls, strictures, and abuses that i saw as a child there, i see posted about here-though they are different, they are also the same.

I've come to believe that the jw religion is a very spiritless religion. No joy, all doom and gloom, very self-centered, us vs them, arrogent, haughtly, showing a lack of love for their fellow man, just down right evil.

Welcome to the board!!
Maybe we should have a poll on how many felt worthless as a teen being raised in the borg?

So is there a new stance on B-days or what? Someone please explain........
by WingCommander ini have heard rumors on here and other places that jw's are now allowing birthdays to be observed/celebrated.
is this true?
i hope so.

Let me tell you what not celebrating my birthday did for me, how it made me feel as to whether my parents really cared about me:
!. I felt unimportant
2. because there was hardly any recognition of the day I was born, I felt I really didnt matter to my family, which led to low self-esteem.
3. had feelings that no one really loved me, to this day it is very hard for me to feel that anyone does love me. which is sad since I have a very loving husband and 4 kids who are all over me everyday.
4. began to question whether I should have been born at all.
Now I'm not saying that the dreath of birthday parties did this to me mentally, what I am saying is not having anyone recognize the joy of you coming into this world leads to a world of hurt and also hampers one in developing a good sense of self worth.
In my opinion of course,
Josie ~ loves a good and silly birthday party "Bring on the cake!"
