It was a relief to not go to my first convention. There are better things to do with one's time in the summer months.

My JW best friend is bringing a 'heavy' around to my house to talk some sense into me.
by Julia Orwell ini agreed, if only because i want to see my friend of many years.
the 'heavy' is a large, imposing man with a booming voice and is a creature of the gb through and thru (eg only visited his dfd dad on his death bed because it was a 'good witness' to the hospital staff) and i'm feeling stressed about seeing him.
i so badly wanted to see my friend though, i agreed without thinking and now wish i hadn't have.

Good. I thought from the getgo you shouldn't let those people in your house but you strike me as someone determined to to do it your way (like your dear father) so I held my tougue and hoped it wouldn't go too terribly south. I'm pissed that they had a go at you but you stood your ground and I think you had to experience something like that to make it more real for you. We can tell you it's not a good idea but that doesn't make it real, sometimes it has to be experienced for a person to get it.
You did fine, you did good, you're a strong person. Try not to be so hard on hubby. Seem you've trained him to be one way and now expect him to be another. Maybe a little clarity is needed.

Hubby found out about me celebrating my kids birthday...
by cognac intold on me of course.
apparently, the other jw thought he was kidding.. i just said, you tell on me and take my family from me, we are done.
we will get a divorce and you will lose me, your home, and more then likely won't get to see your kids everyday the way you get to now.

So, Whats the real reason JWs are no concessions open at the DC and are discouraged from supporting nearby vendors?
by BU2B inso ever since they discontinues the food service at the assemblies and dcs, jws have been "lovingly encouraged" to pack a light lunch to eat.
the secretary at the hall that i am held hostage in said during the service meeting that even a sub would be too heavy to eat, and that a light salad was the best option.
what do you fine people think is the real reason why, in the absence of food service, jws are told to not leave the building at lunch?

There were never any outside concession vendors in any of the stadiums or arenas that I attended when I was in (back in the late 60's thru the 70's to the early 80's). All food was supplied and sold by the organization. We weren't even allowed to use the vending machines that happened to be there (they were all papered and gated off).
I'm going with control and money.

it is chuck full of bad advice to young people because it is written under the direction of old men who are surrounded by yesmen and ass kissers, who have a delusional relationship with an imagined deity causing them to have all kinds of phobias which are transfered onto those who read this publication uncritically.
phobias about the world being under an evil satanic control, masturbation, school sports, worldy friends, cell phones, internet information, etc.... guilt, shame, and death threats all rolled into one book to bend the young mind into submission to the corporation's interest (free labor).. just what a teenagers needs(sic) a book written by delusional old men who don't give a shit about them and want to take control over their lives for the finacial benefit of the corporation they are ceos of.
