I do dream a lot, though most of them I don't remember in the morning.
I have noticed when I'm troubled I dream more and they are much more vivid and detailed. Usually I will dream of people I haven't thought of for years but it always has something to do with my recent troubles. I've gotten into the habit of telling myself when I'm troubled to sleep on it and remind myself to wake up early and write down the dream as much as I can remember of it because usually there is a solution to my current delima somewhere in there.
One reoccurring dream which I hate is that of drowning, either myself of one of my children or one of my grandchildren. I have no fear of water and can swim well enough but in these dreams I'm always rescuing someone and feeling helpless. Yeah I've pretty much got that one figured out......it's the Mommy thing, sigh.
As a child I had this reoccurring nightmare which scared the be-jesus outa me, it happened every time a door either the door to our bedroom or our closet was left open. I would wake up and see a circus man on stilts wearing a top hat, a midget and a clown standing in the doorway blocking it so I couldn't get out of my room and run to Mommy and Daddy. They would talk to me and taunt me....I never understood what they said but was paralyzed and scared. To this day I have to have all the doors in my room shut but lately I've noticed I will get up during the night and the stuffiness's of the room makes me leave the door into our room open and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had the nightmare. Whew....I also have hubby baffled on that one because it was a big deal when we first got married how I had to have all the doors shut to the point he made sure they were all shut before retiring.
I've often heard it said that dreams are a window into our psyche and I do believe that and pay attention to my dreams when I can remember them. There are a lot of books on dreams and how to interpret them but I haven't gotten into doing that although it sounds interesting.
Oh and for the most part I do have pleasant dreams, sweet dreams.
No, no god has ever spoken to me.
Day dreams IMHO are the best kind of dreams because you can totally control them and guide them, plus they do lead to creativity so keep your um...day dreaming job Outaservice! LOL
